Power DC In 10. 9. The CADA4-U3E has two methods to set RAID functions. Please choose either the Software or Switch Method. Set RAID Functions: Software Method 1. Load the included CD in your computer and copy the CD content onto your desktop. Select the “Software” folder and run the setup.exe associated with your operating system. Allow this program to make changes to your computer. 2. The RAID Manager setup window will appear. Continue installing the software by selecting “Install.” 5. Once the RAID Manager launches and your CADA is detected, you will see informational pop-up windows for each drive, similiar to the one shown to the right. The RAID and Disk Information tab shows you the Controller Configuration for the drives. 6. The Basic RAID Configuration Tab will allow you to delete or change the RAID settings of your CADA. For RAID 1 settings, please go to “Advanced Mode” shown in Step 7. 3. Allow the software to complete the downloading process. When the status bar finishes loading, select the “Finish” button to launch the software. 7. For advanced functions, select the “Advanced Mode” tab on the left of the RAID Manager. Continue to the “Advanced RAID Configuration” tab and select the desired RAID settings for your drives. Note: The “Email Notification and Event Settings” in the “Advanced Mode” can only be utilized on NAS units. Set RAID Functions: Switch Method Mode Settings Important: To set any RAID mode, you have to first reset the mode back to the JBOD setting. Follow the directions below to set all mode settings: JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1+0, RAID 3, RAID 5, Clone, and Combine modes. JBOD DIP ON 1. Install your hard drives. Plug the CADA into a power source with the included power supply. Next, connect the CADA into your computer via USB 3.0/2.0 or eSATA cable. Do not power on your unit just yet. 1 2 3 4 RAID 0 3. Hold the “reset” button down and continue to hold the “reset” button while you power on the unit. Sustain the hold for 10 to 15 seconds thereafter and let go of the “reset” button. 1 2 3 4 RAID 3 Clone To verify your unit is in the correct mode, follow the steps below to start Disk Management: 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 Combine DIP ON DIP ON Disk Management 1 2 3 4 RAID 5 DIP ON DIP ON 4. Your CADA’s mode will now be set with the setting you chose in Step 2. To verify, check your drives in your computer’s Disk Management Utility. 1 2 3 4 DIP ON DIP ON 2. Set the desired mode setting shown to the right of this quick start guide under “Mode Settings.” RAID 1+0 1 2 3 4 Click on Start and enter diskmgmt.msc into the search field. You can also right click on the (My) Computer icon on your desktop or in the Start Menu and select Manage. Then, select Disk Management to the left of the screen under Storage. You will be able to see and access your drives from here.
