These cards can be removed and placed in a memory card reader to download the information to the computer. All PC’s in the CTLT lab are equipped with card readers built into the CPU . The types of cards that can be used for the PC’s are: CF/MD, SD, mini, MMC, and RS. Using The Wizard: In some cases, inserting a card into a slot will automatically start a wizard. Use these instructions to use the wizard to transfer pictures from the memory card to the network: 1. Put card into appropriate slot 2. Select “Copy pictures to a folder on my computer”. 3. The opening screen of the Scanning and Camera Wizard will appear. Click NEXT. 4. The pictures on the memory card will appear. Select the photo(s) you want to save and click NEXT. Memory cards can be inserted directly into the appropriate slots in the front of any CTLT PC. Using “My Computer” When a card is recognized by the computer, it will show up as one of the “Removable Disk” drives. In the CTLT, these are assigned to the N-drive, O-drive, P-drive, or Q-drive, depending on the card slot being used. One method for removing pictures from a memory card is to insert it into the correct slot, open one of these drives using “My Computer”, and cut/paste the pictures to a new location. 5. In box #1, type in a name describing this group of pictures. This will become a folder name when the wizard is completed. In box #2, type or browse to the location where you want your pictures saved. DON’T CHOOSE “MY PICTURES” OR “MY COMPUTER” FROM THE BROWSE BUTTON. This will save the pictures on the internal hard drive of the computer. Your pictures may be erased. 6. Click FINISH. DO NOT EJECT CARDS USING THE “SAFELY REMOVE HARDWARE” METHOD! Most devices on a PC require users to go through the “safely remove hardware” icon on the taskbar to properly disconnect from the computer. Using this method with memory cards will dismount the drive in My Computer. If this happens, the computer must be restarted in order for the card reader to be reactivated.
