INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS Requirement Specification Camera Mounting Height 25 ft to 30 ft (7.6 m to 9.1 m) Mounting Surface Hollow traffic pole with access to run cabling and coupler inside pole. Note: Solid poles will require weatherproof junction box. Camera Orientation Pointed toward center of intersection free of obstructions. Ethernet Cable Cabinet-Side Cable (pulled from cabinet to base of traffic pole): Shielded Cat5e, with temperature range of -29°F to 165°F (-34°C to 74°C) Camera-Side Cable: 40 ft (12.19 m) of Quabbin 5760 Slack 3 to 4 ft (1 to 1.2 m) drip loop at camera-end Termination Shielded RJ45 SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS • • • Follow all of your agency’s required safety procedures when parking and using a bucket truck during the camera installation. Do not install components if the conditions are not safe, such as during adverse weather situations. If possible, inspect wires in the cabinet or traffic pole for any unsafe wear and replace them if necessary. 2 INSTALLATION STEPS Mount the Spectrum Camera360 1. In a bucket truck, raise the bucket to a height of 25 ft to 30 ft (7.6 m to 9.1 m) on the chosen pole for installation. Note: Make sure to bring the Spectrum Camera360, two(2) pole clamps, a socket wrench, and 40 ft (12.2 m) of provided shielded Ethernet cable (Quabbin 5760). 2. Using the two (2) pole clamps provided, mount the Spectrum Camera360 to the selected traffic pole at a height of 25 ft to 30 ft (7.6 m to 9.1 m). 3. Hand-tighten the socket nuts on the pole clamps, and rotate the Camera360 so it points toward the centre of the intersection free of obstructions. 25 to 30 ft (7.6 to 9.1 m) 4. Once in position, tighten the socket nuts with a 5/16” (8mm) socket wrench. 5. Leave 3 to 4 ft (0.9 to 1.2 m) of slack in the camera-end of the Ethernet cable and follow proper drip loop procedure. 3 Drop the Shielded Ethernet Cable Through Traffic Pole 1. Run the Shielded Ethernet Cable through the hole in the traffic pole to meet the cabinet-side Ethernet cable at the base of the traffic pole. Note: Pole grommet may need to be temporarily removed to allow Ethernet Coupler to fit through. 2. At the base of the traffic pole, remove protective tape from cameraside coupler. 3. Install the Two-Way Ethernet Connector onto the camera-side cable. Connect Cabinet-Side and Camera-Side Ethernet Cables 1. Separate the Cabinet-Side Ethernet Coupler and slide it onto the Cabinet-Side Cable. Note: Blue gasket should be a tight fit to the cable. If blue gasket does not fit around cabinet Ethernet cable, use the provided green gasket instead. 4 2. Install and crimp RJ45 connector ensuring that the drain wire contacts the shielded connector housing. Pin 1 O/ OG /B B/ GB r/ Br 3. Connect the cabinet-side Ethernet connector into the Two-Way Ethernet Connector. 4. Tighten the middle section of the coupler fully. 5. Press blue gaskets into bottom-side of the coupler and tighten both nuts fully with 11/16” wrench. 5 Connect Spectrum Camera360 to Spectrum SmartLink 1. In the traffic cabinet, connect the Cabinet-Side Ethernet Cable into the Spectrum SmartLink port labelled PoE 1 POWER STATUS SERIAL NET 2 2 4 2.4/5 GHz MIMO 1 2G/3G/4G 2 ETHERNET 1 4 24VDC 2 3 4 1 3 3 2 GPS 232/485 1 MIMO 2 MIMO 2 1 PoE 2.4/5 GHz 2G/3G/4G GPS I/O DSRC DC IN 24V 5.9 GHz PoE 1 DSRC 4G/LTE SERIAL USB GND 2G/3G/4G MIMO 1 2.4/5 GHz MIMO 1 TECHNICAL SUPPORT Technical support is available five days a week by phone or email during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 7am-8pm EST/EDT.)
