Can I connect my iPod or MP3 player to the master unit? Article Number: 39 | Rating: 1/5 from 3 votes | Last Updated: Thu, Apr 2, 2015 at 1:55 PM Connecting your iPod or MP3 player to one of our intercom systems is done through an Audio Wall Plate (AWP). The AWP has two sets of left and right RCA jacks to which you can plug in your music source. The DMC1 and DMC3-4 master intercom stations have one set of left and right RCA jacks (labeled as AUX L and AUX R). You will need to purchase two RCA "Y" connectors (from your local electronics store) and use them on the back side of the wall plate – one for the left side and one for the right side. This will effectively reduce your two lefts and two rights into a single left and right. Then run RCA cables from the Y connectors to the AUX L and AUX R on the back of the DMC master station. Now any LINE OUT item that you plug into your Audio Wall Plate will play through the DMC master when you turn the source to AUX. WARNING: You can only use line out audio for this. Using an amplified audio may damage your master unit. If you have an earlier model intercom master, you more than likely have only 1 AUX jack on the back of your master. If so, you can still utilize this same technique but will have to employ the use of three of the RCA "Y" connectors. In this case, start off by combining both of the left side jacks together into one, rd then both of the rights together into one. Now combine those two legs into a single one using your 3 "Y" connector. This single connection is what you would then connect to the back of your master AUX jack. For ease of installation, we also have the AWPMRX: Mono Audio Rough-in Kit for installing the Audio Wall Plate.
