Canon Launches New EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Ultra-Wide angle zoom lens And Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX II Ring-type Flash 1
Canon is proud to announce the launch of 2 new products: EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM - first EF-S ultra-wide angle zoom lens equipped with an optical image stabilizer, as well as Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX II – the new ring-type flash that offers supreme flash performance which enables unique and creative possibilities in close-up photography.
EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Offering Affordable and Enjoyable Ultra-wide Angle Experience to Entry-level users EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM is an affordable option that offers the capability to shoot creative, high-quality images and video where the surrounding area can still fill the frame even when the subject is at close up range. The lens’s stunning ultra-wide 10-18mm zoom range (equivalent to 16-29mm in 35mm format) provides the flexibility to capture a wide variety of scenes: from cozy corner table in a restaurant to a large group shots in limited spaces at parties or weddings, or even taking holiday snaps of vast landscapes and cityscape panoramas. Ultra-wide angle zoom capability in a compact size EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM has adopted a large diameter PMo aspherical element, made possible by Canon’s innovative production techniques, and a new 4-group zoom optics, resulting in a compact design where it weighs only 240g and lens length has been shortened to 72mm - which is even shorter than the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM kit lens. Paired with compact DSLRs like the EOS 100D, casual users who want to go light will be pleased with this combination’s portability. Offering a focal length equivalent to 16-29mm in 135 format and an 107° degree angle of view (diagonal) coverage, the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM provide an extraordinary perspective which can also be used innovatively to produce highly dramatic pictures that cannot be achieved by other types of lenses. Pioneering EF-S ultra-wide angle zoom lens with optical image stabilizer to expand possibility of photos and movies expression EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM’s ultra-compact Image Stabilizer offers shake compensation up to 4-stop shutter speed2 and automatically detects normal shooting and panning for optimal compensation. With its feature to minimize camera shake at slower shutter speed during ultra-wide angle range shooting, EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM helps users to ensure image quality in many different scenarios, such as indoor shooting where a tripod or flash is not available, or shooting in dark scenes with lower ISO speed to suppress the overall noise level. For handheld landscape photography, the image stabilizer can also enable user to use a smaller aperture with slower shutter speed in order to capture the depth of the entire subject as well. It can also help to create crispy sharp images when the photo is examined under high magnification. Image Stabilizer is also useful for handheld movie shooting, ensuring high quality movies with exceptional clarity under different shooting environment. Optimised optical components to provide astonishing image quality Equipped with a large diameter PMo aspherical element and a glass-molded (GMo) aspherical element, EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM is able to correct aberration phenomena for higher image quality from center to peripheral. The EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM also features an Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) lens element to reduce chromatic aberration at all focal lengths. The 7-blade circular aperture also provides astonishing out-of-focus effects, plus a range of optimised lens coatings to minimise ghosting and flare. Optional Lens Hood EW-73C is also available for users to achieve better flare control. 1 2
