Magellan Power has been supplying high quality AC and DC power systems and associated equipment to industry for 20 years.
Since establishment in 1992 Magellan Power has supplied high-reliability DC and AC power systems to numerous major projects across Australia. These include the Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar Network (JORN), Edinburgh Defence Base upgrade, Lihir Gold, GLNG, APLNG, QLNG, Hay Point Expansion Stage 3, as well as multiple substation projects Australia-wide. We provide our customers with rugged, reliable solutions especially tailored to their needs.
We also pride ourselves on developing our cutting edge technology and the fact we are growing knowledge based jobs in Australia. Masoud Abshar has a Master Degree in Power Electronic Engineering, and 30 years experience in the field. Masoud founded Magellan in 1992, and has successfully run company for 20 years.
Over the past 20 years we have grown from an idea to now having replaced thousands of power systems, which would have otherwise been imported. Instead, in substations, power stations oil rigs, hospitals, petrochemical plants and war ships, there are now reliable, well-supported Australian designed and made systems. We have given opportunities to students straight from university, to exercise and enhance their skills in electronics and power electronics design. Our team of electricians, technicians and engineers are among the most experienced and motivated in this field. Magellan is committed to providing Australia’s biggest projects with innovative solutions to rival the best in the world.

DC systems are a vital component of any modern substation providing power to protection and control equipment in times of AC power loss.
Our systems are placed all over Australia in remote locations. Some of these locations take hours to get to, and the conditions are barren and unforgiving.
Our service team works within our manufacturing environment and they know everything about the product because they were most likely there when it was built and tested. Our dedicated
lt is for this reason that we established our Magellan Service Team. Our service team are our own - Masoud Abshar engineers, trained on Magellan products to ensure that your back up systems are in perfect working order when they are finished the job.
Service Team consists of accredited technicians and qualified electrical engineers. They are available 24-hours a day to provide you with the service you need and have access to our product designers if there is a particularly complex fault. Magellan sells knowledge and solutions, and the Service Team is both of these in one.

The team at Magellan Powertronics comprises of many power electronics engineers and technicians. Our Research and Development department develops industry leading equipment. We believe in gathering a team of like-minded industry experts who share a passion for designing and manufacturing the best products in the country. Our staff come from all over the world and bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge. Some of our senior staff members are award winning engineers, with many years of Research and Development experience. Amongst our team based in Perth, Western Australia we have 6 senior staff and supervisors, 16 electronic/electrical and mechanical engineers and sales engineers, 27 electricians, technicians and tradespeople, and 6 highly qualified support staff, ranging from accountants to marketing officers. Magellan’s staff gain hands on experience in designing, manufacturing and testing our equipment- opportunities they would not ordinarily get within Australia.
Our Products AC Back Up Power Solutions Magellan Power’s design engineers are pioneers in the field of UPS design and they specialize in customizing UPS solutions tailored to your needs. Our UPS systems feature advanced communication options, extended back-up periods and the option for modular or parallel construction. Available in single and three phase up to 250kVa, Magellan Power’s customized UPS systems are flexible, highly reliable and essential for critical 250kVA.
DC Back Up Power Solutions With an integral battery impedance monitor that can assess the health of the battery and the integrity of its connections, the MCR 11 series is undoubtedly the most advanced battery management system of its kind. Available in single and three phase up to lOOkW, and using ultra rugged phase controlled technologies, this series is ideal for all industrial applications including substation battery systems and DC UPS.
Grid Power Support Systems (GPSS) An emerging product on Magellan Power’s technological landscape, the Grid Power Support System is a ground breaking solution for renewable energy and Smart Grid application.
Lead acid and Lithium industrial Batteries We supply both Lead Acid batteries and Lithium batteries for our chargers and projects we supply to. Lithium is becoming increasingly popular with our clients as the batteries are a third of the size and weight of lead acid, last many more charge cycles and operate at temperatures of up to 70 degrees Celsius.
AC and DC UPS Service Magellan Power’s service department technicians are the industry’s leading experts in the provision of outstanding support through an onsite repair service which can eliminate the downtime of your power equipment. Our technicians are fully trained in all aspects of AC/DC repair and refurbishment and will bring to you the collective knowledge and experience of the entire Magellan Power team.
