Cartridge Recycling Scheme Environmental Protection Act Help us to help the environment • Lyreco is committed to helping the environment, that is why we have two ways to recycle your customer’s empty toner or inkjet cartridges. • The Environmental Protection Act 1990 “Duty of Care” prohibits laser toners and inkjet cartridges being included with normal office waste, therefore Lyreco are pleased to offer delivery and collection of our recycling boxes free of charge to all our customers. Every year millions on inkjet & laser toner cartridges are consumed - most are discarded after use and create thousands of tonnes of waste in landfill sites. This is completely unnecessary as most can be recycled into products guaranteed to perform as well as the original cartridge. Lyreco Recycle Programme • • • • • 20% of cartridges collected are used in remanufacturing in Harlow 61% of cartridges collected are shipped to Thailand & Romania for remanufacturing 13% of cartridges collected are sold to other remanufacturers and brokers to subsidise the cost of Impega cartridges 6% of collections can’t be used and are disposed of through licensed agents 94% of component parts can be reused or recycled - only “mission critical” parts are replaced 1.
