Before removing the filter cartridge be sure to clean all traces of dirt from around base joint. Unscrew filter from base. Be sure to use a Genuine CASE cartridge. To install new cartridge, apply film of oil to gasket, and then hand turn until filter contacts base - then tighten one half turn ( 180°). Do not overtighten. Always add additional pint of oil to engine crankcase every time filter cartridge is changed. CAUTION: Never attempt to change an oil filter while the engine is running. Figure 9 - Oil Filter 19 ~. IGNITION SWITCH AND STARTER KEY. Four position combination switch with removable key. "OFF", "RUN", and "START" positions. The left hand position is not used on gasoline Crawlers. Turn key to right to crank the engine. Release immediately when engine fires. Do not operate starter for more than 30 seconds at one time. Wait a few minutes before turning starter again. Push NOT USED FUSEHOLDER. Two 25 ampere fuses for protection of electrical system. Left hand fuse for generator charging circuit; right hand fuse for lighting circuit. LIGHT SWITCH. Turn knob to right to operate head, tail, and dash lights. BN50560 Figure 18 - Ignition Switch HAND THROTTLE CONTROL. Friction type hand throttle with extra long shaft for easy, positive operation, especially in cold weather when operator is wearing heavy clothing. FOOT THROTTLE CONTROL. Controls engine speed with the foot. BRAKE PEDAL. Push pedal forward (after depressing clutch) to bring Crawler to stop. Braking may also be accomplished by pulling back on both steering levers simultaneously. 30 d Figure 54 - Checking Front Idler Figure 5 5 - Checking Track Rail Figure 56 - Checking Grouser Plate Removing Track Each track chain is equipped with two master pins, identified by lock pins in ends, see Figure 58. Move Crawler onto hard, level surface until a master pin is halfway up the back of sprocket; then lock brakes. Loosen track tension, see Figure 5 7.
