Dusty, humid or moist places. PROTECT YOUR FURNITURE This model is equipped with non-skid rubber 'feet' to prevent the product from moving when you operate the controls. These 'feet' are made from non-migrating rubber material specially formulated to avoid leaving any marks or stains on your furniture. However certain types of oil based furniture polishes, wood preservatives, or cleaning sprays may cause the rubber 'feet' to soften, and leave marks or a rubber residue on the furniture. This unit should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except qualified service personnel. Precautions for use Installation • • • Unpack all parts and remove protective material. Do not connect the unit to AC outlet before checking the AC voltage and before all other connections have been made. Do not cover any vents and make sure that there is a space of several inches around the unit for ventilation. -3- Connection 1. 2. 3. Connect the power cord to AC outlet. Connect the speaker wire to the speaker jack (25) located on the rear side of unit. Press the power button(8) and the power LED indicator(14) will light up which means the power supply is normal. Now your system is ready to play the music. Listening to radio Manual tuning 1. 2. 3. 4. Select the function selector(12) to “ Tuner “ position. Select the desired band with radio band selector(13) (AM or FM or FM-Stereo). Tune to the required station by turning the tuning knob(18). Adjust volume up/down(7) to the desired volume level. FM & FM-Stereo reception z z Set the radio band selector(13) to “ FM ” position. Programs are received in mono mode. When stereo signals are weak, it is preferable to receive the program in mono. Set the radio band selector(13) to “FM-St” position to receive stereo programs. The FM-Stereo LED indicator(16) will light up to show FM stereo program is being received. Hints for best reception:- AM : the receiver has a built-in AM bar antenna. If AM reception is weak, slightly rotating or re-positioning of the unit will usually improve the AM reception. FM : the receiver has a built-in FM wire antenna(26) hanging at the rear cabinet. This wire should be completely unraveled and extended for best reception. Playing compact discs z Getting started 1. Set the function selector(12) to “CD ” position then open the CD tray by pressing the CD tray open button(10). Put a CD disc into the compartment and close the CD tray. Focus search is performing if disc is inside. Total number of tracks will appear on LCD display(15). Adjust volume up/down(7) to the desired volume level. -4- 2. 3. z Play / pause mode 1. Press play/pause button(2) to start to play. The first track will be played and the playing track will show on the LCD display(15). If play/pause button(2) was pressed during play mode, go to pause mode and the track number will be flashing. 2. z Stop mode 1. If stop button(3) is pressed during play or pause mode, go to stop mode and the total number of tracks will be displayed. z Skip mode (skip up 1. 2. 3. During play or pause mode, if skip up button(4) was pressed it will go to next track and display the track number. During play or pause mode, if skip down button(4) was pressed it will go back to the beginning of the track and the same track number is displayed. Press skip down button(4) again to go to the previous track. /skip down ) z Repeat/random mode Press the rep/ran button(5) before or during play. A single track repeat or all tracks repeat and random mode can be selected. Each press will switch the mode as follows: (1) Repeat 1 z (2) repeat all (3) random (4) repeat off Program mode Up to 20 tacks can be programmed for disc playing. Be sure to press the stop button(3) before programming. 1. Set in CD mode. 2. Press the program button(6) and the “ PROG ” icon will flash on display. 3. Select a desired track by using the skip up/down buttons(4). 4. Press the program button(6) to enter the track into the memory. 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to enter additional tracks into the memory if desired. 6. When all the desired tracks have been programmed, press play/pause button(2) to play the disc in the order you have programmed. The program icon will light up during playback 7. Press stop button(3) to terminate program play. Listing to tape General operation Select the function selector(12) to “ Tape “ position. Cassette playback : the system will start the playback automatically after inserting a cassette tape Stop and eject : press the “tape forward/eject“ button (20) completely inward and the cassette tape will be ejected though the cassette door cover (21). (See diagram below for button position to eject tape.) Fast forward : press the “tape forward/eject“ button (19) halfway inward during Playback mode to fast forward the tape. (See diagram below for button position (middle) to fast forward.) slightly press the “tape forward/eject “ button (19) again to resume normal playback. (See diagram below for button position (highest) to play.) NOTE: - Make sure the direction is correct when inserting the tape into the system. - During fast forward, some “searching” noise will be heard as the system is not performing its normal playback function during fast forward mode. It is recommended to take out the cassette tape from the system after listening. Do not leave the cassette tape inside the system when not in use. - -5- Phono NOTE: - Remove the stylus (needle) protector. Securing the tone arm to the arm rest there is a little clip. Be sure to raise the clip from the tone arm before playing. When not playing, snap the clip back over the tone arm to keep it secure. 1. 2. 3. 4. Select the function selector(12) to “ Phono “ position. Set the speed selector(22) to the proper position depending on the record to be played. Place the record on the platter (turntable). Use the spindle adaptor(22) if necessary. Lift the tone arm from the rest(23) and slowly move toward the record. The platter will start to rotate. Place the tone arm at the desired position of the record. Adjust volume up/down(7) to the desired volume level. At the end of record, the platter will automatically stop rotating. Lift the tone arm from the record and return it to the rest. To stop manually, lift the tone arm from the record and return it to the rest. 5. 6. 7. 8. NOTE: Some records are out of the auto-stop area setting and the turntable will stop before the last song finishes playing. In this case, select the auto-stop switch (27) to “ off “ position, then it will run to the end of the record but will not stop automatically. You will need to stop the turntable by pressing the power button or change the auto-stop switch back to “on” position. Then put back the tone arm back to the rest position. CARE AND MAINTENANCE 1. 2. 3. Avoid operating your unit under direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places. Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise such as fluorescent lamps or motors. Unplug the unit from the electrical power outlet immediately in case of malfunction. CLEANING THE UNIT z To prevent fire or shock hazard, disconnect your unit from the AC power source when cleaning. z The finish on the unit may be cleaned with a dust cloth and cared for as other furniture, Use caution when cleaning and wiping the plastic parts. z If the cabinet becomes dusty wipe it with a soft dry dust cloth. Do not use any wax or polish sprays on the cabinet. z If the front panel becomes dirty or smudged with fingerprints it may be cleaned with a soft cloth slightly dampened with a mild soap and water solution. Never use abrasive cloths or polishes as these will damage the finish of your unit.
