ETC® Setup Guide Sensor ®3 CEM3 Data Terminations Guide I n t r o d u c ti o n This guide provides information for terminating the low-voltage data wiring required for a Sensor®3 rack with CEM3 control. Terminating the data wiring requires that you work inside the rack with all of the modules removed and in close proximity to the high voltage bus bars. All power must be turned off before working in the rack.
WARNING:
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Failure to disconnect all power to the rack before working in the rack could result in serious injury or death.

Te r m i n a t i o n s The CEM3 backplane uses the same terminal strip connectors and termination kits as ETC’s DMX wall plate. Wire preparation will vary with the type of wire and termination kit being used. Please refer to the instructions included with the kit for specific information on wire preparation.
Ethernet Network Termination - RJ45 Connector Step 1:
Note:
Step 2:
Step 3:
Follow the directions provided in the Ethernet Termination Kit to terminate the incoming Ethernet cable in the RJ45 UTP connector in the surface mounting box. The kit is included with the dimmer rack door (along with this guide) except the SR3-6, where it is shipped inside the rack. Use the instructions provided with the kit for proper Category 5 cable termination. Install the surface mount box inside the rack with double-sided tape, • SR3-48: to the rear wall of the rack interior behind the CEM3 backplane • SR3-6, SR3-12, and SR3-24: to the bottom of the rack interior, behind the backplane Use the provided male-to-male Ethernet patch cable to connect the surface mounting box female RJ45 connector to the female RJ45 connector on the CEM3 backplane.

Setup Guide: Sensor3 CEM3 Data Terminations Guide DMX Input Termination Below is the DMX termination layout for two different styles of connectors. At top is the layout for screw-terminal connectors that are intended for use with Belden 9729 cable or equivalent cable type. Cable other than Belden 9729 may have a different color code for its wire pairs. The lower portion illustrates the layout for IDC connectors that are intended for use with Category 5 solid core cable (or equivalent/better cable types)
