Teraoka Seiko, Co., Ltd. Computing Scale / 4600 and 5600 Series Application: General-purpose manual weighing of prepackaged commodities. Scales must be marked "For Prepacking Use Only" or similar statement. All scales are (static) manual weigh scales. DPS-4600 and DPS-5600 models are manually wrap and label scales. AW-4600/5600 Type AT and CP are automatic wrap and label scales. AW-4600/5600 Type N and Type FX are automatic wrap, but manual label scales. Identification: The DPS-4600 and DPS-5600 models Type Single, Type Twin and Type Basic, have a permanent ID labels which is located on the inside, left back area, of the label roll compartment drawer (it is necessary to roll out the label drawer to view the ID label), for convenience, a duplicate ID label is placed on the right outside of scale, the information on this duplicate label can be verified by comparing it with the information on the internal permanent ID label. Type modular has a permanent label of the left side of the display / keyboard unit. The remote weighing element has a permanent identification label on its left side. The weighing platter has a plastic view hole to view the level indicator and the sub-platter is labeled to insure proper placement of weighing platter. The ID information for the AW-4600/5600 Type AT, N, and CP, are located on the right side of the in-feed conveyor compartment, this compartment is located below the display/control panel. The ID information for the Type FX scale is located on the front right side of the scale below the printer. Sealing: DPS-4600, DPS-5600, models Type Single, Type Twin, Type Basic, Type Modular Single and Type Modular Twin require one wire security seal, which secures a bracket covering the span/calibration switch. This bracket is located on the underside of the remote weighing element, in the recessed area, near the connection cable. The remote weighing elements used with these systems have digital load cells which once calibrated with a system are electronically matched to that system. The weighing element may be disconnected, but cannot be replaced unless the new weighing element is recalibrated with the system; this requires the wire security seal to be broken. The AW-4600/5600 Type AT and Type N scales require one wire security seal which is placed over the metal cover of the span/calibration switch, going through the three sealing screws provided. This sealing area is accessed through an access hole which is located in the left front of the scale; the access area is cover by a clear plastic cover, which allows visibility of the seal when it is in place. The AW-4600/5600 Type CP scales require one wire security over the span/calibration switch which is located on the left front of the scale below the conveyor assembly. The AW-4600/5600 Type FX scale requires one wire security over the span/calibration switch which is located on the right side bottom of the unit. Operation: DPS-4600, DPS-5600 Scales, Type Single, Twin and Basic are manual weigh, wrap and label scales. AW-4600/5600 Scales, Type AT, CP, N and FX are all manual (static) weigh scales with variations of automatic wrapping and/or labeling. Test Conditions: The emphasis of this evaluation was on device design, performance, operation, marking requirements, and compliance with influence factor requirements. The purpose of this evaluation was to include a multi-interval 30 lb x 0.01 lb / 60 lb x 0.02 lb, and single interval 60 lb x 0.02 lb capacity options. A model DPS-5600 type modular single was submitted for evaluation. The device was tested over a temperature range of -10°C to 40°C (14°F to 104°F). A load of approximately one-half capacity was applied over 100,000 times and was tested periodically during this time. Several increasing, decreasing, motion detection and shift tests were performed. Voltage tests were conducted using 100 V AC and 130 V AC. In addition, mathematical price computations, tare capabilities, discrimination tests and labels from the printer were also evaluated for compliance. Certificate of Conformance Number 06-076A2: The emphasis of this evaluation was on device design, operation, marking requirements and printed receipt format. The purpose of this evaluation was to include a “Multi-Interval” option. A model DPS-4600 type modular single was evaluated for compliance with Publication 14 “Multi-Interval” criteria. The printing format, mathematical price computations, tare, discrimination and zero requirements were evaluated. No additional testing was required. Certificate of Conformance Number 06-076A1: The emphasis of this evaluation was on device design, operation, and performance. The purpose of this evaluation was to add two new models, DPS-4600 Type Modular Single and DPS-4600 Type Modular Twin to the 4600 Series. Both of these new models are the same with the only difference being the Single has one printer and the Twin has two printers. Model DPS-4600 Type Modular Twin was presented for examination. This model has the same metrological components as the devices previously evaluation for the DPS-4600 group. This modular design has the printing components separated from the display/keyboard unit. The remote weighing element and display/keyboard are the same as those preciously evaluated. Several series of weighments were conducted to evaluate the systems performance and the corresponding weight labels were printed and reviewed. Certificate of Conformance Number 06-076: The emphasis of this evaluation was on device design, operation, performance, compliance with influence factor requirements and print format of receipts and weight tickets. Model DPS-4600 Type Twin was selected for the evaluation in the lab. This device was tested over a temperature range of –10 C to 40 C (14 F to 104 F). A load of approximately one-half capacity was applied to the scale over 100 000 times. The scale was tested periodically during this time. Additional tests were conducted using 100 VAC and 130 VAC power supplies. Different options of the print format were evaluated. A sample of the AW-4600 series, Type AT was evaluated in the field at the manufacture’s site. This series of scales have an internal weighing element using the Shanghai Teraoka Electronic Co. Ltd, Type N load cell, which is smaller in size then the type K (which was evaluated in the lab), both load cells have the same design and electrical specifications. These (AW-4600) automatic wrap/label devices have an input voltage of 208/240 volts and the CSA international Certificate of Compliance for these devices was reviewed. The performance of this internal load cell was evaluated by performing several increasing/decreasing load tests, as well as, shift tests at half and full capacity. The sealing locations for the AW-4600 series of integrated scales were evaluated for accessibility and sealing procedures were documented. Evaluated By: B. Fishman (NY) 06-076, 06-076A1; E. A.
