Press Com Type and use the Type knob to select the type of communications for your device. • G3 — select RS-232. • Cable Connections The G3 connects to the switcher over an RS-232 serial connection to a DB9 port on the switcher and a DB9 port on the device. To Set Up Communications 1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Com Setup. 2. Press Type and use the Com Port knob to select the remote port that you want to set up for the device. 3. Use the Device knob to select CG. 4. Press Select Device and use the Device knob to select Inscriber. G-Scribe — select Network TCP. 6. Press Com Settings and use the Baud and Parity knobs or the Client/Server knob to set up communications with the device. • G3 — use the Baud and Parity knobs to select 38400 (Baud) and ODD (Parity). • G-Scribe — use the Client/Server knob to select Client and enter the IP address of the device in the Remote IP Address field and 10000 in the Remote Port field. 7. Press Extra Options. Option Software Ver Value 5.0 or later (default) 8. Press HOME > Confirm. To Set Up a Video Input In addition to the video/fill input coming from the CG, you must also set up the alpha input and associate it with the video/fill. Refer to Auto Key Setup in your Acuity™ Setup manual for more information. 1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Source Config > Input Type. 2. Use the Input knob to select the input video/fill source that is coming from the CG. 3. In the Input Type area, select Char Gen. 4. Press More > More. 5. Press CG Setup and use the CG and Channel knobs to select the device that the video signal is coming from. • CG — select the device that the video signal is coming from. • Channel — select the channel on the device that the video signal is coming from. 4820DR-622 Rev.1 6. Press HOME > Confirm. Device Setup The device must be set up to communicate with the switcher using the same serial or ethernet communications as you set the switcher up to use. Note: This information in this procedure is provided as a guide and is based on the current version of hardware and software that was available at the time of testing. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, refer to the documentation that came with your device. To Set Up Serial Communication for the G3 Note: You can only have one INS template file per folder on your Inscriber computer. If you have more than one, the system will ignore the newest INS file(s). 1. Click the Preference button in the AutoCG window to display the Preferences Window. 2. Click on the General Tab. 3. Select the Serial Port option in the Receive Command From Area. 4. Configure the serial port as follows: • Com Port - This must be set to the COM port that is connected to the switcher. • Baud Rate - This must be set to 38400. • Data Bits - This must be set to 8. • Parity - This must be set to Odd. • Stop Bits - This must be set to 1. To Set Up Ethernet Communication for the G-Scribe 1. Click the Preference button in the AutoCG window to display the Preferences Window. 2. Click on the General Tab. 3. Select the TCP Port option in the Receive Command From Area. 4. Configure the TCP port as follows: • Port - This must be set to the port that the switcher is connecting to. 2
