CIB 3130 502B Headset Adapter CIB 3130 Issue 1 CIB 3130 502B Headset Adapter The 502B headset adapter allows you to use a headset with a 10-, 22-, and 34-button voice terminal with your System 25 or MERLIN® II Communications System. This headset adapter (Figure 1) comes with a D8AC modular cord and may be used to connect a headset with a 2prong plug or a modular plug. This headset adapter provides the ability to answer calls automatically without lifting the handset. For further information, refer to “Operating the Headset Adapter.” LED indicator On/Quiet button Off button Headset jack (for 2-prong plug) FIGURE 1 502B Headset Adapter iss1, cib3130-1 Installing the Headset Adapter Use the following instructions to install the headset adapter: 1 Place the headset adapter near the voice terminal to which it will be connected. 2 If your headset has a 2-prong plug, insert it into the headset jack on the front of the adapter (Figure 2). Before you can use the automatic answering feature with your headset adapter, you must program a button on your voice terminal for Auto-Answer (Auto-Answer All for MERLIN II system users). For programming instructions, refer to the administration information that came with your system. NOTE: If you disconnect your headset plug from the headset adapter while a call is in progress, the call will be disconnected. iss1, cib3130-4 Automatic Features To: Do This: Activate auto-answer feature Press the programmed Auto-Answer button on your voice terminal. The green light next to the button goes on. Answer a call When you hear a beep and the Headset indicator goes on, begin speaking. Disconnect a call Calls automatically disconnect when the caller (far-end) hangs up. This feature is available only to System 25 users. MERLIN II system users must manually disconnect calls by pressing OFF. Deactivate auto-answer feature (manual operation) Press the programmed Auto-Answer button on your voice terminal. The green light next to the button goes off. Manual Operation To: Do This: Place a call ● ● Press On/Quiet. Listen for the intercom dial tone. Dial number. Answer a call ** ● Press On/Quiet. Disconnect a call ● Press Off. ● Other Features To Switch From: Do This: Handset to headset on an active call ● ● Press On/Quiet. Hang up the handset. Headset to handset on an active call ● Lift handset. ** To answer calls manually, you must first deactivate the Auto-Answer feature. iss1, cib3130-5
