Plumbing of AV WC Valve The AV WC Valve provides touch operated flushing of the WC. The dual flush functionality option is standard as is the integral fill valve - no additional inlet valve is required. Both a Bottom Inlet and Side Inlet are provided to suit all standard cistern types. An internal overflow is integrated into the Outlet.

Figure 1 Fit the Outlet to the cistern sandwiching the gasket on the inside of the cistern. The overflow pipe should be at the front right when the inlet is to the right or at the rear left when the inlet is to the left. For plastic cisterns use the plain Gasket or for ceramic cisterns use the Gasket with Boss. Fasten the Stem Nut to secure. Fit either the Bottom Inlet or Side Inlet according to the cistern type. Gasket for plastic cisterns

Figure 2 Clip the Float onto the Valve Unit float level at its mid way point. Latch the Valve Unit onto the Outlet with a short clockwise turn until it locks. Screw the Inlet Hose onto the inlet. Loop the Inlet Hose and push the free end into the fitting on the Valve Unit. Inlet external fitting is ½” Male. Fit Outlet to flush-pipe and mount cistern. Note: The Outlet has stops on the inside of the bore to prevent the flush pipe from being pushed in too far, if the pipe is forced past them the valve seal will not close. If the valve is being fitted into a close-coupled suite, a “doughnut” washer may be required (not supplied). Once the water supply has been connected, the full flush volume is adjusted by changing the Float height.

Complete Piping Not Shown
Position the AV Six Channel Controller and Multi-product Power Supply Unit at suitable high level locations in the service void where access can be gained to them. Ideally, the AV Six Channel Controller should be a similar distance from each of the appliances/outlets. The Multi-Product Power Supply Unit should be mounted in a location a similar distance from each of the AV Six Channel Controllers that it is powering. In the above example, only one AV Six Channel Controller is shown.

AV/65_A-03
Switch on the Multi-product Power Supply Unit and restore the water supply. Test the basic function of each outlet by pressing its piezo button. (WC valves must be allowed to fill cistern before activation). Water will flow from each fitting for a short time when its button is pressed.

Programming & Configuration Outlet flow times can be programmed individually or simultaneously. (Note: When programming the flush time for a WC, if dual flushing is to be used the part/half flush time is programmed)

Slide the PROG ALL dip-switch into the ON position. Press a piezo switch, this will activate water flow from the selected channel outlet. Wait for the desired flow time. Press the piezo switch a second time to stop the flow. The flow time duration will be set and will be common to all the channels/outlets. Slide the PROG ALL dip-switch back to its original position. If there are channels requiring different flow times, these can be programmed individually. Follow steps 6 to 10.

Slide the PROG IND dip-switch into the ON position. Press the piezo switch of the channel to be programmed. Water will flow from that channel. Wait for the desired flow time. Press the piezo switch a second time to stop the flow. The flow time duration of the selected channel will be set. Repeat steps 7 to 9 for each channel requiring an individual flow time setting.

For Flow Limiting Anti-flood Lockout
Anti-flood Lockout This function is selected by sliding the FLOW LIM dip-switch to the ON position. It places a limit on the number of activations that an outlet will deliver within a given time period to prevent excessive use of water. Typically used in secure environments and not in public or communal facilities.
12hr Hygiene Cycle This function is selected by sliding the HYGIENE dip-switch to the ON position. After every 12hr period of non-use, each channel will complete one flow period, to replenish traps and remove high risk water from dead legs. Each channel has its own timer.
Communications Channel Configuration The communications channel will send alarm or message signals to a remote indicator (lamp, LED, buzzer etc). Note: internal LED also shows signals. The channel can also be incorporated into a Building Management System if present, either taking the 6V DC output directly or volt free via a relay. (max load 6W). Please see the following table for message code designations.

Important Note for BMS integration: Each flash/pulse is 6V and 60ms long and occupies a 0.5s interval. 30 seconds before and during any Hygiene Cycles the last 0.5s interval will also contains a 10ms pulse.

AV WC Valve Operation If dual flushing of the WC is to be used, the part flush duration will have been programmed, the full flush may be achieved by a quick double press on the Piezo Switch. If dual flush functionality is not to be used, the full flush duration will have been programmed. In both cases the full flush volume is determined by the Float height setting. If dual flushing it to used, be sure to affix the Dual Flush Label beside the Piezo Switch. Note: When required, an optional stainless steel Dual Flush Plate is available for use in place of the label.
Removal of Trapped Air from the System When installing the AV WC Valve for the first time, air may be trapped in the valve and supply line. If this occurs, it causes the valve to repeatedly fluctuate between the open and closed positions. To expel air from the system activate the valve by pressing the Piezo Switch whilst the valve is in this repeating cycle. It may be necessary to do this several times before the action ceases and the valve operates normally.
Disable Switch Operation When installed, the disable switches can shut down water outlets in a zone. There is one disable switch for each zone. If closed, the disable switch will prevent outlets from being activated. If an outlet is open when the disable switch for its zone is closed, the water flow will cease immediately.
Anti-flood Lockout Operation Anti-flood Lockout Operation When selected, the anti-flood lockout function prevents excessive use of water in a zone. If an outlet is activated repeatedly for more than four times successively the zone will shut down for a 30min period. Any delay between activations will postpone lockout or prevent it altogether. If a zone enters lockout, an alarm signal is sent via the communications channel. The zone may be reset manually by staff closing and opening the disable switch for that zone.
12hr Hygiene Cycle Operation 12hr Hygiene Cycle Operation When selected, each channel will turn on for one flow period every 12hrs after its last activation. This prevents the drying out of u-bends and traps and flushes out any stagnant water reducing the risk of legionella growth in pipe work.
