Production processes for Products & Services: T-Shirts: The garments we use for T-shirts are supplied locally and manufactured from Francistown via Dikipara Botswana (PTY) Ltd. The computer controls the movement of a sharp blade. This blade is used to cut out shapes and letters from sheets of thin self-adhesive plastic called vinyl. Vinyl cutters are used to make signs and advertisements. Advertisements seen on vehicles are made with vinyl cut letters. They make for durable promotional materials. They are used on indoor and outdoor signs and illuminated signboards. Vinyl is weeded (process of removing excess material to reveal the actual letter or design) and then applied to a clean dry and smooth surface for application. • Heat press: A heat press is a machine engineered to imprint a design or graphic on a t-shirt, with the application of heat and pressure for a preset period of time (30 seconds). While heat presses are often used to apply designs to fabrics, they can also be used to imprint designs on mugs, plates, jigsaw puzzles, and other products. The machine temperature rises to 180 degrees Celsius and fuses the pre-cut vinyl design to the cotton fabric of the t-shirt. • Digital printer for T-shirts: Custom full colour, vibrant designs can be applied to almost any type of material for effective advertising and branding. The actual t-shirt is laid flat on the printer tray and manoeuvres into the printer to be directly printed on. • Cold/Hot lamination: Lamination is an effective way to protect and professionally display printed material. It also offers a layer of protection making materials such as posters last longer. A plastic laminating sleeve (measured in microns) covers the printed poster and enters a laminator which binds the plastic via heat or pressure to the poster for a long lasting fix. Micron thicknesses available are 75 microns and 150 microns. Plastic sleeve pouches are available in the following sizes: A6, A5, A4 and A3 • Binding: Used to cater to documents, personal files and annual reports, this is a process that involved punching multiple holes onto a document and inserting a metal or plastic spiral on the spine of the document to bind it all together for presentation.
• Flatbed scanning: Scanning services are used for printed media, photographs, original documents, paper materials, photographic film negatives and more. A digitizing solution to photo albums and archiving material. The scanner is an input device connect to the computer. The hard copy of a document is laid flat on the scanner bed and then the software program creates a soft copy or electronic version of the hard copy. • Printing: Posters, flyers, letterheads, business cards, magazines, booklets, leaflets, newsletters, brochures, company profiles are all printed on the laser colour printers. These are heavier duty machines than those found in smaller offices. They have a higher yield per toner and cartridge. Laser printers use a powder and not an ink to fuse via heat to the paper for a cleaner and more crisper print quality. • Signs: Using materials such correx and perspex, vinyl is cut and applied to these flat surfaces to make warning signs, toilet signs, office signs, brochure stands.
