WHAT IS SmartClass+?
SmartClass+ is a multi-user interactive software platform that enables teachers to orchestrate learning activities for their students in class. Teachers manage interactive multimedia activities from an easy-to-use desktop interface. Students participate using any device. BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) capabilities for classwork are fully supported.
SmartClass+ helps teachers to focus student attention and prevents student computers and tablets from being used for non-educational activities like texting and web surfing. Teachers find that SmartClass+ activities are highly motivational for their students – who are completely familiar with modern technology.
WHY USE SmartClass+?

Classroom Activities
Teachers manage class activities from their desktop
Teachers can present new concepts by broadcasting their computer screen (and sound) to all students - or teachers can select a model student to demonstrate his mastery of the new concepts to the class.
While students are working on individual exercises, teachers can monitor thumbnails of all students to ensure that they are on task.
Teachers can also work one-on-one with students who need extra support, via audio intercom or chat – without disturbing the rest of the class.
Teachers can take remote keyboard/mouse control of student workstations to help students resolve difficult problems.
Multi-Platform Classroom Management
High Fidelity Audio Intercom All-software & hardware configurations WIRELESS In WiFi environments, SmartClass+ can be configured with an all-software based audio intercom capability to enable teachers and students to communicate orally in complete privacy. Teachers can speak with the entire class, a group of students, or they can work one-on-one with individual students.
WIRED In environments such as dedicated classrooms, where all stations use wired network connections, SmartClass+ can be configured with an all-software based audio intercom capability, or optionally with a hardware-based high-fidelity intercom system using dedicated cabling and multi-channel matrix mixing technology. The hardware option delivers superlative sound quality.
NOISE-CANCELLING HEADSETS In a classroom environment, where all students are speaking concurrently, it is critical to use high-quality headsets that acoustically isolate each student from his immediate neighbors. SmartClass+ headsets provide: ■■ Oversized padded ear cushions that block ambient noise. ■■ Noise-cancelling microphone technology that captures only the local student’s voice and rejects all remote sounds. ■■ Rugged composite materials which are virtually indestructible. ■■ Padded headbands to ensure student and teacher comfort with extended use. ■■ Connection options for all popular PCs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
HD High Definition Screen Sharing
All-software & hardware configurations
WIRELESS In WiFi environments, SmartClass+ can be configured with an all-software based screen sharing capability to enable teachers and students to operate without any cables. Teachers can share their screen with the entire class, with a group of students, or can work one-on-one with individual students. Teachers can also monitor thumbnail images of all student screens concurrently, or can view any individual student screen.
WIRED In environments such as dedicated classrooms, where all stations use wired network connections, SmartClass+ can be configured with an all-software based screen sharing capability, or optionally with a hardware-based HD screen sharing system using dedicated cabling and DVI/HDMI switching technology. The hardware option delivers HD quality video for rich-media applications like: ■■ Computer Aided Design (CAD) ■■ Solid Modeling ■■ Architectural Design ■■ Cartography ■■ Geographic Information Systems (GIS) ■■ Media Arts ■■ Image Processing

Technical Specifications Hardware Screen Sharing
Powerful KVM Switching Module KVM stands for Keyboard-Video-Mouse. This module is used for sharing video screens amongst stations, and for managing keyboard-mouse remote control of stations. A simple block diagram of the SmartClass+ DVI/HDMI switching option is shown at right. The KVM module physically intercepts the monitor, keyboard, and mouse connections between individual computer workstations and their peripherals, and connects them through a local “interface” module. Interfaces (typically supporting multiple workstations) are connected to central switching equipment using dedicated CAT-5 (or CAT-6) cabling. This offloads all shared video from the school’s data network and assures sufficient bandwidth for sharing full resolution, full color palette video signals. KVM switching options include SmartClass+ VGA (for managing legacy analog VGA connections) and SmartClass+ DVI (for managing modern single-link digital DVI/HDMI connections). All systems feature a star wiring topology with centralized
