Classroom Activities Teachers manage class activities from their desktop Teachers can present new concepts by broadcasting their computer screen (and sound) to all students - or teachers can select a model student to demonstrate his mastery of the new concepts to the class. While students are working on individual exercises, teachers can monitor thumbnails of all students to ensure that they are on task. Teachers can also work one-on-one with students who need extra support, via audio intercom or chat – without disturbing the rest of the class. This module is used for sharing video screens amongst stations, and for managing keyboard-mouse remote control of stations. A simple block diagram of the SmartClass+ DVI/HDMI switching option is shown at right. The KVM module physically intercepts the monitor, keyboard, and mouse connections between individual computer workstations and their peripherals, and connects them through a local “interface” module. Interfaces (typically supporting multiple workstations) are connected to central switching equipment using dedicated CAT-5 (or CAT-6) cabling. This offloads all shared video from the school’s data network and assures sufficient bandwidth for sharing full resolution, full color palette video signals. KVM switching options include SmartClass+ VGA (for managing legacy analog VGA connections) and SmartClass+ DVI (for managing modern single-link digital DVI/HDMI connections).
