Step 1: Power up the SMART Board Power button To turn on the SMART Board, simply press the Power button. When pressed, the status indicator ring around the button flashes green to indicate that the projector lamp is starting up. To turn the SMART Board off, press the power button again. Hide/Show Menu Used to show or hide the on-screen menu. You can use this, for example, if the interface is hiding the Start button on your Windows® operating system taskbar. Volume Control knob Used to adjust the output of the projector’s built-in audio amplifier. An on-screen display will show the volume setting. To mute the audio, push the control knob down.
Step 2: Start-up Menu in the SMART Board When the SMART Board is turned on, you will see the following screen. Select the desired use of the SMART Board by pressing the screen option. Normally Computer 1 if you are projecting your computer or Video 1 if you are playing a DVD or VHS tape.
Step 3: Switching the view from the Computer to Video Computer 1 Select this option to view your computer desktop. Video 1 or Video 2 If you have other peripherals attached, such as a DVD player or a document camera, the other selections on the menu will allow you to view and work with-
Step 5: Turn on the PC
Step 4: Open the Closet In order to access any of the equipment in the ATC, you need your employee badge. Equipment is in a locked closet inside the closet. Swipe your card next to the access pad next to the closet as circled below.
Using a Laptop Using a Laptop To use your laptop , pull open the Laptop shelf in the equipment closet. Plug the VGA cable into the VGA connection on your laptop.

Plug in the USB cable into a USB port to get control of the mouse and keyboard.
If you are playing a DVD or VHS tape, turn on the DVD/ VCR Combo player.
Plug in the audio cable into the outlet on your laptop to have the sound broadcast over the speakers in the classroom.
Press the power button on the front of the PC in the closet as shown below.
Laptop Shelf Push the button labeled “2” on the KVM switch once to change the video display (amber light moves to the right). Push the “2” button again and hold for a few seconds to change the control of the keyboard and mouse (green light moves to the right).

Orienting the SMART Board 1. On the SmartBoard, simultaneously press and hold down the keyboard and mouse buttons for a few seconds. 2. Follow the on-screen instructions by pressing the center of the target from one location to the next.
Troubleshooting Problems with the SMART Board Problem:
Solution:
Computer is not displayed on SmartBoard
Choose “computer, VGA” from Start-up menu. Is the KVM switch set to input 1? Choose “computer, VGA” from Start-up menu. Is the KVM switch set to input 2?
Laptop is not displayed on SmartBoard VCR\DVD output is not displayed on SmartBoard
Choose “Video 1” or “Video 2” from Start-up menu
SmartBoard is not aligned
Follow the instructions above to orient the SmartBoard
SmartBoard does not respond to touch
Reboot the computer
