ALWAYS FOLLOW ALL CODES. Be sure the unit is unplugged and cooled before performing any maintenance/component replacement. Before you start, you will need a 7/16” socket or open-ended wrench. Remove the ash pan and dispose of any ashes in the proper manner. Then, loosen the two nuts on the inside of the ash pan and remove the bolts. It is good practice to clean, gently sand, then repaint the front face of the ash pan before installing the new handle bracket. Make sure the paint has completely dried before installing. Line up the holes on the handle mounting bracket with the front face of the ash pan, making sure that the bend is above the bolts. Install the new bolts and nuts, using the 7/16” socket or open-ended wrench to tighten the nuts on the inside of the ash pan. If using the same spring handle, remove the handle from the old bracket by grasping tightly in the middle and pulling toward one end of the mounting bracket, then remove. Install the handle in the reverse of this procedure.
