SAFETY PRECAUTIONS This section contains important safety precautions that must be followed before attempting to install or maintain electrical equipment. Carefully read and follow the safety precautions below.
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH •
Apply appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe electrical work practices. See NFPA 70E.
•
This equipment must be installed and serviced by qualified electrical personnel.
•
Turn off all electrical power supplying this equipment before working on or inside the equipment.
•
Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm that power is off.
•
Replace all devices, doors, and covers before turning on power to this equipment. Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
SELECTING A LOCATION Mount the Color Touch Screen Power Supply between 3.3 and 65.6 ft (1 and 20 m) from the adaptor box, and within close proximity to a power receptacle. Mount the adaptor box close to the Color Touch Screen and confirm the terminated end of the DC output cable plugs into the DC power input port of the Touch Screen. Refer to the "Power Supply Component Connections" figure for a connection illustration. Also consider the following factors when selecting a location: •
Verify adequate ventilation is available for cooling the power supply.
•
Keep the power supply uncovered.

INSTALLING THE COLOR TOUCH SCREEN POWER SUPPLY The Color Touch Screen is connected to an adaptor box through a DC cable. The adaptor box is connected to the power supply through a DC output cable that the user cuts to the required length and connects to the adaptor box. Step (1): Overview Refer to the "Power Supply Component Connections" figure below. It illustrates how each component is connected from the power receptacle to the Color Touch Screen.

Step (2): Running the DC Output Cable 1. Verify that the adaptor box mounting location is the proper distance from the Touch Screen by running the terminated end of the DC output cable attached to the adaptor box to the Color Touch Screen. 2. Run the AC power supply plug from the power supply's mounting location to the power receptacle to verify adequate cable length. 3. Run the 65.6 ft (20 m) DC output cable from the power supply's mounting location to the adaptor box. Step (3): Preparing the 66 ft (20 m) DC Output Cable Refer to the following figures and sections: •
"Power Supply Assembly" figure
•
"Adaptor Box Components" figure
•
"Selecting a Location" section
1. Cut the unterminated end of the 66 ft (20 m) DC output cable to remove excess cable length between the adaptor box and the power supply. 2. Remove 2.2 in. (50 mm) of the cable's outer sheath, and strip 0.4 in. (10 mm) of insulation from the ends of the four conductors. Figure 3: Adaptor Box Components KEY: A. Terminal block screws B. Terminal blocks C. Step (4): Connecting the DC Output Cable to the Adaptor Box Refer to the figures "Adaptor Box Terminal Blocks" in Step 3 and "Adaptor Box Components and DC Output Cable Terminations". 1. Twist the unshielded ends of the 2 red conductors together to make the red twisted pair. Repeat with the black conductors ends to make the black twisted pair. 2. Loosen the two terminal block screws on each side of the adaptor box with a small flat head screwdriver. 3. Insert each twisted pair of conductor ends into its respective terminal block as labeled on the adaptor box. 4. Tighten the terminal screws securely (recommended torque: 12 lb-inch (1.4 Nm). Do not exceed the recommended torque value. 5. Attach the terminal block access cover. Verify the cable is positioned securely in the cable clamp of the access cover. Tighten the 3 terminal block access cover screws provided.
