CN2 Serial Adapter Instructions Use the CN2 Serial Adapter (P/N 074247) to turn the 16-pin serial port (COM1) on the CN2 into a DB9 (9-pin) male serial connector that you can connect to a serial printer or a button link. Installing and Using the Serial Adapter 1 Remove the serial port plug from the serial port. Serial port plug Clips DB9 connector 2 Slide the serial adapter onto the CN2 and snap the two clips into place on the CN2. 3 Connect a serial printer or button link to the DB9 connector on the serial adapter. Removing the Serial Adapter 1 While holding the CN2, push down on the serial adapter until the clips are released from the CN2. Clips 2 Slide the adapter off the CN2. DB9 Connector Pin Assignments 1 - Not connected Data set ready (DSR) - 6 Button link power - 7 Clear to send (CTS) - 8 Not connected - 9 2 - Receive data (RXD) 3 - Transmit data (TXD) 4 - Button link power 5 - Ground Pin Assignments: This illustration shows the pin assignments for the DB9 male connector on the serial adapter. Pins 4 and 7 supply power to the button link. Pin 9 does not supply power to external devices.
