One of Scandinavia’s foremost solutions for sorting waste at source. The Norwegian Postal Service’s new terminal building near Oslo. This facility controls large portions of the Norwegian postal service with its 35,000 m2, which were completed in 2010. Here we find one of Norway’s and Scandinavia’s number-one environmental and economic solutions for sorting waste at source. In partnership with the requester, EnviroPac AS has worked out the solutions. A spacious waste room receives the pre-sorted waste from a number of waste disposal stations strategically placed throughout the facility. From the waste room there are several feed chutes that lead straight into the compactors, which are located on the outside of the building. The waste disposal stations in the production room are made of Sesam containers that are brought directly in by forklift, and which empty the sorted waste directly into the compactors for ordinary waste, plastic, cardboard, paper, and wood located on the outside.

For more than 60 years, the German manufacturer Avermann GmbH has been heavily involved in the development and production of machinery and equipment. It was in the mid 1970s, with environmental issues becoming of greater concern that Avermann expanded its production to include compactors. Initially they developed a range of portable compactors and, a little later, they added a range of static compactors which were supplied with replaceable containers and feeding chutes for manual feeding, bin lifts, conveyors and air extraction systems.
Avermann has become a leader in waste compaction solutions throughout Europe and beyond. This expertise ensures that reliable, high quality, cost-effective solutions are manufactured, making Avermann the number-one choice. All models come with a high level of standard equipment and a wide selection of optional extras, to allow customised solutions to be supplied.
With the increasing demand for custom-made solutions – essential health, safety and environmental obligations must be met, together with the need for a cost-effective, operationally viable and user friendly solution. We design custom-made compactor solutions with a choice of feed chute, bin lifts, dock loading modifications, specialised waste, over-sized drop lids, shredding systems, etc.
Avermann compactors come in Blue 5010 and Grey 7016 as standard colours. Other RAL colours are available upon request.
Avermann features compactors with specially developed solutions for multiple types of waste. For cardboard and other expanding material, the Flexo model comes equipped with a feed area that is 500 mm longer than similar compactors, and the press cylinders reach an impressive 450 mm into the container unit. In addition, the container floor is shaped like a “water ski jump.” This, along with a curved rear door, ensures better compacting in the upper part of the container and prevents the waste from obstructing the feed area. For extra-expansive (high memory) material, the compactor can also be equipped with material retainers.
The locking mechanism for the waste discharge door features 3 robust locking points. If desired, a watertight solution with four locking devices is available.

A hook on the front that can be lowered is standard. Both the hinges and the hook are of an exceptionally high steel quality and are solidly attached. The entire construction of the compactor consists of edge profiles, rather than U-profiles. Edge profiles make the compactors incredibly solid in terms of operating safety and long service life.

2 Avermann chainlift compactors are built conically for increased filling volume and simple emptying using a lift car. Equipped with lifting lugs, it is also suitable for platforms, construction sites, and boats at sea. Chainlift compactors are used for several types of waste; however, they are mostly used for ordinary waste, plastics, and cardboard. Avermann chainlift compactors are equipped with solid 8mm Naxtra steel plates in the press chamber and 3.5 mm steel plates in the container unit, a design feature that guarantees tightness and durability for many years to come. The hydraulics and the electric components are easily accessible for service and maintenance. Available in four standard models with a capacity of 5, 9, 10, and 12 m³. The compactors have a small footprint, making them suitable for use where space is limited.

The Flexo Basis is suitable for several types of waste but is often used for ordinary waste since the press piston extends 200 mm into the press chamber. The Flexo Basis is equipped with solid 8 mm Naxtra steel plates in the press chamber and 3.5 plates in the container unit, a structure that guarantees efficiency and durability for many years to come. Available in two models, 16 and 20 m³. Flexo Basis is ideal for producers of larger amounts of waste such as grocery stores, shopping centres, hotels, industry, etc.

Flexo is our heavy-duty solution and is ideally suited for larger amounts of cardboard or other expanding materials. Flexo has a feed area that is 500 mm longer than similar compactors, and the press plate reaches an impressive 450 mm into the container unit. A locking mechanism for the rear door along with a heavy rubber seal prevents liquid from seeping through. A special gasket and the press plate design prevent waste from entering the cylinder area so issues such as frost problems are avoided. Designed to cope with larger amounts of wet organic waste this machine is used by grocery stores, fruit and vegetable warehouses, meat producers, restaurants, hospitals, hotels, etc. Functional design that includes a low feed height. Our roller compactors reduce the amount of waste by up to 10 times. Special reinforced containers are used. The compactors are safe to operate and have a long service life. Can be placed indoors in the waste room or outdoors below a roof. Used by apartment complexes, office buildings, hotels, hospitals, grocery stores, petrol stations, etc. We have delivered approx. 350 roller compactors in the city of Oslo alone.

The structure with the rotating drum with spikes provide highly effective compacting, and the waste is compacted up to 10 times. Simple and safe operation.
We offer 3 standard models. All models can be combined. Model 2011 is a combination where models 2001 and 2010 are placed next to each other with a shared hydraulic aggregate. A mixed double compactor that compacts waste in a standard container as well as cardboard/plastic in a plastic bag. The models are hydraulically operated and may be fed continuously during operation. The compactors can be adapted to technical systems such as chutes, conveyor belts, GSM, etc. Possibility of lift tippers for up to 360-litre containers.

1 There is an increasing demand for economical, environmentally friendly solutions in the area of waste sorting from the private as well as the public sector. In existing building projects, consideration is not often taken to expanding waste sorting at source, nor is the waste disposal room designed for it.

Main office in Storebrand, Norway Storebrand’s focus is on the environment. Among other things, it has an environmental action plan with procedural guidelines for sorting waste at source and waste management. Keeping sensitive information secure is important, and in this regard a shredder has been installed on top of a Flexo compactor for cardboard and paper. The paper is collected in 240-litre containers in the office environment. The containers are transported to the waste disposal room by the cleaning personnel and are emptied into the Untha shredder by using lift tippers.
Rema 1000, Norway Here a special solution has been installed with an exterior chute and an interior drop slot. Basically, the idea is to build a chute from the inside of the building and directly out into the compactor. This is a rational solution when there are multiple stories and no ramps. The chute solution reduces the workload for the employees since they can get rid of the waste fast and on the spot. A smart solution when it comes to meeting the requirements for health, environment, and safety.

Scandic Oslo Airport Hotel The hotel was completed in 2010 with a facade that is visible from all directions. The building owner as well as the architect did not want foreign elements to obstruct the building, and the Flexo Basis ordinary waste compactor was camouflaged in the same building style as the hotel. The interior of the waste room is spacious and has its own designated area for cleaning using a hose reel and a high-pressure hose.

In the autumn of 2010, Gresvig opted for a solution with a full alarm that automatically notifies the cleaning personnel when all compactors are full. They used to have a sorting degree of 86%. Six months after the installation of the full alarm system, the sorting degree had increased to 94% as a result of more efficient collecting.
Compacts pallets, lumber, and other voluminous waste up to 80%. Transport costs are similarly reduced. Normally used together with 35 m³ containers but can also be adapted to other sizes. Candy King, main office in Moss, Norway Candy King offers the best and most eco-friendly candy. To ensure the areas food safety and the environment are important values for the company. They seek solutions for safety, production prosess, packaging and transportation costs. The waste is sorted. Outside there are several lift compactors that receive the sorted waste. The compactors have received a special coating of varnish in Candy King’s company colour.
Malling & Co, Barcode Basement, in Oslo Two compactors are placed on road cells that are located below the compactor wheels. The weight cells are attached to a weight indicator that constantly registers the weight on the compactors. The lids on the compactors will never be closed and locked until the users identify themselves with an ID card. The ID card contains information about the holder, and the weight system records the waste fraction that is thrown in and how much it weighs. This solution makes it possible to throw out waste without “opening” the system with the ID card. Reports are run electronically, and the users are invoiced according to the Volume and type of trash. Hydraulic Binlifts.
Using Binlifts in the waste handling process is very efficient. Not only does it speed up the process, it also improves the safety of the personnel and reduces their workload. In some cases it is essential to comply with manual handling requirements. Binlifts can be mounted permanently on the compactor or on wheels or rails, or separately by mounting them permanently on the ground or loading dock.

We offer customer specific solutions to meet your individual needs. Our binlifts are both mechanically and hydraulically robust and can lift and empty containers from 140 to 1,100 litres. Integrated Binlifts have a lifting capacity of up to 1,000 kg. Binlifts are simple and safe to operate.
