The interposer assures reliable data transmission while providing 100% capture of all PCIe® data traffic flowing through the CompactPCI Serial interface. Connecting the interposer to a Teledyne LeCroy analyzer allows decoding and display of data flowing in both directions and across all lanes, and will display data traffic using the industry-standard CATC Trace™ data display, along with a wide range of traffic and error reports. The Gen2 CompactPCI Serial Interposer supports data rates of 2.5 GT/s (Gen1) and 5.0 GT/s (Gen2), and lane widths up to x8. The CompactPCI Serial specification, also known as PICMG CPCI-S.0, is a next generation CompactPCI system that offers support for switched fabrics such as PCI Express over a new high speed rugged connector. It incorporates a star architecture made up of serial point-to-point connections where one system slot can control up to eight peripheral slots. Mobile and stationary applications in real-time control and monitoring, data acquisition and instrumentation, and simulation and test are the primary focus for this technology. Target applications include robotics, machine control and industrial automation via research, computer telephony and telecommunication, medical engineering and energy sector, to ground transportation, avionics and shipbuilding and any type of mobile machine or vehicle. The new Gen2 CompactPCI Serial Interposer is a powerful and versatile tool for all developers working with CompactPCI Serial expansion cards. Install the Interposer into the host system connector. 2. Install the CompactPCI Serial expansion card under test (DUT) into the connector on the interposer. 3. Set the SW1 DIP switches to the lower lane width setting that matches between host and device. Set the SW2 DIP switches to the desired clock selection. 4. Connect 12V DC using the AC adapter supplied with the interposer. Make sure that the AC adapter is turned on. 5. Connect the Summit T28 Analyzer (or other compatible Teledyne LeCroy analyzer) to the interposer using an iPass Y-cable (if using a Summit T24, use a x4-to-x8 straight cable). 6. Connect the analyzer to a host computer system using the USB 2.0 port on the back panel of the Summit T28 analyzer. 7. Install the software on the host system. 8. Power on the analyzer. 9. Power on the host system. 10. Use the Teledyne LeCroy software application to monitor, record and view PCI Express traffic in the CompactPCI Serial system. 1-800-909-7211 teledynelecroy.com Lane Activity LEDs Available Test Points on Interposer Test Point Signal Description TP26, 25 +12V +12V power supply from host to device. TP28, 27 +12V_AUX +12V_AUX power supply from host to device. TP32, 31 +3.3V +3.3V power supply from host to device. TP46, 45 +3.3V_AUX +3.3V_AUX power supply from host to device. TP48, 47 +5V +5V power supply from host to device. TP30, 29 -12V_AUX -12V_AUX power supply from host to device. The first test point listed above is used to measure the voltage. The second test point is the “_B” test point located after the current sensor. To measure the current draw on each power supply, measure the voltage difference between the two test points and divide by 0.02 (in the case of the +5V power supply, divide by 0.01). TP43 +2V5_RX +2.5V power for interposer (output of regulator U14). TP41 +2V5_TX +2.5V power for interposer (output of regulator U13). TP39 +3V3 +3.3V power for interposer (output of regulator U15).
