Xerox ColorQube 8900 vs. Lexmark X792 ® ® ® Robust job queue and Print Around Job queue The ColorQube 8900 was designed to be shared by workgroups and as such, provides a robust job queue with full visibility of active and completed jobs, including job owner, job name and job status. It also allows users to cancel, hold, promote and delete jobs at will; eliminating frequent trips back and forth to the device by users who are waiting for their jobs to print. Print Around The Xerox® Print Around feature is a huge productivity booster that allows queued jobs to print, even if one is held up in need of resources. For example, if a user sends a print job requesting legal-size media and there is none in the paper tray, the ColorQube 8900 will hold that job and continue printing other jobs in the queue. When legal-size media is later inserted, the held job will be printed. The Lexmark X792 has a job queue, but users can view only 4 queued jobs at once, and job deletion is the only option for queue management. Also, When the Lexmark X792 encounters a job in need of resources, its Intelligent Job Waiting feature generates a 30-second error message that effectively disables the device. When printing resumes, the “problem job” is routed to a special “held jobs” queue that can be a challenge for users to locate. Furthermore, when the X792 runs out of paper during a job, it will not continue with other queued jobs until the first job is complete. For example, if the manual feed tray is configured for legal-size paper and runs out during a print job, the letter-size print jobs are also stopped until legalsize media is loaded — this brings office productivity to a standstill. Xerox ColorQube 8900 vs. Lexmark X792 ® ® ® Scan templates More efficient color touchscreen The ColorQube 8900 employs scan templates that allow users to scan images to predefined locations. Templates are created with CentreWare® The ColorQube 8900 and Lexmark X792 both feature a color touch screen that allows convenient access to copy, fax and Scan to Email features from the home window. However, when Lexmark users select a feature, such as Copy, they are presented with a cluttered submenu that makes routine adjustments more timely than with the Xerox® device. For example, when users want to select 2-sided copying or collation, they must go into the corresponding sub-menu, select the option and then select the green check mark to get back to the main copy screen. All of this can be accomplished on the main copy screen for the ColorQube 8900. These ease-of-use differences can manifest into huge bottlenecks or productivity gains when you consider that both devices will be shared by the workgroup. Internet Services and permanently stored on the device for convenient, touch-screen access. By contrast, the Lexmark X792 incorporates webbased scan profiles that are available only for the duration of the web browser session, making them impractical to share. This effectively limits its use as an office productivity booster as users must recreate new scan profiles each time they close a browser or reboot the computer. Selecting either of these forces a sub-menu to appear with settings whereas Xerox users simply select the option they prefer from the main copy screen – no sub-menus to deal with. Xerox ColorQube 8900 vs. Lexmark X792 ® ® ® Exceptional print drivers Exceptional print drivers: Unique color control The ColorQube 8900 print driver presents users with five simple tabs, with the initial tab providing the majority of settings required for most print jobs. The Advanced tab provides a link to the printer’s embedded web server, CentreWare® IS. Lexmark doesn’t have a similar function from their driver interface. Have you ever wanted an easy way to change specific colors of a printout? With Color By Words there is no need to go back to square one and manipulate source files. You simply select the desired color modifications from a drop-down list, and Color By Words will adjust your printout. This section of the driver shows supplies status and it also provides links to more information and support. Users are instantly notified if the printer is in need of resources on every tab they’re viewing, and if additional status is needed. Xerox® Color By Words driver settings Lexmark offers less options The Lexmark driver doesn’t offer natural language color control, so users are forced to manually manipulate colors. Furthermore, there are fewer standard color correction options available. By contrast, the Lexmark print driver presents users with 6 different tabs and settings scattered throughout. Users do not have visibility of the printer status and there’s no way click from the driver to the embedded web page to see status of what supplies might need attention. Xerox ColorQube 8900 vs. Lexmark X792 ® ® ® Legendary Solid Ink ease-of-use — color printing has never been so easy ColorQube 8900 X792 Printing color with Solid Ink is incredibly easy; four ink sticks to load in the machine and you’re done. No messy toner to worry about, no imaging drums, developers, or fusers. This also means there is less to store in your supply cabinet, and you can add ink on the fly. Incredible ease-of-use contributes to your office staying productive; and because there’s no need to store big toner cartridges, imagine drums, or fusers, the footprint needed for storage is substantially smaller. Notice how crisp the lines appear in output from the ColorQube 8900, whereas fine line definition from the X792 isn’t consistent and actually drops most of the line in the middle of the graphic. Easy ink loading for the ColorQube 8900 Original X792 Toner cartridges are removed by pulling the unit out of the device; users must be careful when removing the cartridges as toner can spill from around the imaging drum and the imaging drum itself can be scratched as it’s exposed. ColorQube 8900 • Accurate photograph reproduction • True tones X792 Notice how output from the ColorQube 8900 accurately replicates the original photograph; the skin tones are well defined and colors transition smoothly. Output from the X792 appears harsh by comparison, with too much yellow in her forehead and dark areas too saturated. This document is for training purposes only. Xerox ColorQube 8900 vs. Lexmark X792 ® ® ® Low impact — color printing without the waste Color printing with a Solid Ink machine has a decided advantage when it comes to the waste produced, as well as the supplies needed to be stored.
