The concern of operators, investors, sanitary equipment installers, planners or facility managers share today is the efficient and safe handling of drinking water. This applies equally to existing properties or new buildings. Three elements are at the focus here:
eSCHELL is an intelligent water management system developed by the hygiene experts from SCHELL specifically for public sanitary facilities. It allows linking, controlling and monitoring all fittings via the central eSCHELL Water Management Server. It starts with wash basin fittings, shower fittings and on to WC or urinal fittings and covers, e.g. the control of water quantities, stagnation flushes or thermal disinfection. The special feature: With eSCHELL fittings can be linked both by cable and wireless. What's more: The system can be expanded at any time by additional Water Management Servers each with up to 64 linked fittings.

How can hygienically impeccable drinking water installations be ensured? Especially in the long run? Here the answers:
Just as reliable and water saving: stagnation flushes with T-installations. The main line is flushed here first – followed then by the individual stub lines.
Can the building be operated more effectively and parametrisation or control of sanitary fittings conducted more efficiently? Can facility management be optimised this way?
Are intelligent solutions available for the integration of the sanitary installation in facility management in order to optimise water management energetically?
Stagnation flushes with eSCHELL – Hygiene and saving water are no contradiction. eSCHELL not only offers you the central control of the stagnation flush of all linked fittings but especially the software's intelligent setting options. They enable the perfect coordination of high hygiene requirements and the desire for saving water. These basic options for stagnation flushes are available to you:
Thermal disinfection with eSCHELL – with consideration of the accumulator utilisation. In the future, you will be able to centrally control thermal disinfection of all linked fittings in the sanitary room in a simple and time-saving manner. Now the current utilisation of the hot water tank can be included for the first time. That's because eSCHELL allows thermal disinfection by sections. The advantage: hot water can be sufficiently heated again in the meantime. In addition, a thermal sensor measures whether the target temperature actually exists. Only then are the draw-off fittings flushed for 3 minutes and disinfected.
Again, eSCHELL offers numerous solutions: • Central setting of all linked fittings. Easy and completely. • Time-saving actuation of stagnation flush: centrally instead room by room. • Analysis of the data permits operational optimisation of the sanitary installation in the building. • Early warning of low battery charges or defects of the solenoid valve – before any fittings fail. • Proactive service based on experiences with maintenance-free flow times or based on analysed system data (e.g. battery lives)
Two examples here of successful eSCHELL solutions: • Activation of ventilation is no longer determined rigidly but takes place according to the current shower water request or WC use. • The hot water demand in the system is detected early on by the current user behaviour – and not only when dropping below the specific temperature.

Water Management Server The eSCHELL Water Management Server with its intelligent software is the heart of the system. It is responsible for the central setting of the fitting parameters, stagnation flushes, execution of thermal disinfection as well as analysis and documentation. The data of up to 64 subscribers is transferred via wireless technology or per BUS cable. We have even thought about this: The Water Management Server can be selected by a higher level facility management system via an IP address. Integration in the existing facility management system is performed by a system integrator.

BUS Extender Cable BE-K The BUS Extender Cable transfers the data from the fitting to the Water Management Server via cable up to a length of 350 m. The Power Supply of BE-K and fitting is provided by a common telecommunications cable H(St)H2x2x0.8.

BUS Extender Wireless BE-F If networking via cable is not possible, the BUS Extender Wireless handles the data transfer to the Water Management Server. The Power Supply is alternatively provided via the battery compartment or a Power Supply unit. When supplied with mains voltage, the BUS Extender Wireless also functions as repeater (mesh wireless network). Wireless Stick The USB Wireless Stick creates a direct connection between the fitting and PC thus turning it into a remote control.
Wireless mesh network for best wireless coverage. eSCHELL works with a wireless mesh network. Clear advantage: All wireless subscribers operated at line voltage may serve as repeater at the same time for larger distances. For example, for more distant fittings the wireless signals of a closer fitting are picked up and forwarded to the Water Management Server. Good wireless coverage is therefore always ensured. Should unusually large distances need to be bridged, the eSCHELL Wireless Manager can be used as additional repeater.

Intelligent & versatile: the functions of eSCHELL.
Preparing room layouts To facilitate preparing flushing plans, eSCHELL offers the option of configuring or scanning room layouts. The connected eSCHELL fittings are moved here per drag & drop to the desired positions and name accordingly. This provides the operator at all times with the overview of the complete line network and the parameters set for each individual fitting. eSCHELL is a browser-based solution. The advantage: No software installation necessary. To access the data of the Water Management Server only the web browser of a PC, laptop or tablet is needed. Thanks to the Ethernet and
WLAN interface of the Water Management Server all configurations, settings and diagnoses can be made easily and conveniently via mouse click.

Creation of groups Thanks to the group function the operator can make a desired setting once and then transfer it one to one to a group of fittings. This saves a tremendous amount of time at commissioning and installation.

Stagnation flush Whether stagnation flushes shall be carried out according to the last use or at fixed times can be programmed with a few clicks. The duration of the flush can also be adapted to the dimensions of the pipe network. All these are important prerequisites for flushing the drinking water adequately and preventing the spread of bacteria.
Thermal Disinfection (TD) Thermal disinfection devices can be centrally controlled with eSCHELL and carried out via the Water Management Server. To make sure there is always enough hot water for the TD, the line network can be divided into different sections. The advantage: The Water Management Server first sends a signal to the heating unit via a potential-free contact to heat water to the necessary 70 °C. Sector I is then flushed. The heating unit then heats the water again and flushes the next sector. To ensure the complete recording of properly conducted TD a temperature sensor can be integrated which scans and documents the water temperatures. All flushing processes can be programmed individually, logged on the micro-SD card integrated in the Water Management Server and repeated at any time.
Important to know: Either a key switch or password protection ensures the security of TD.
Cleaning stop eSCHELL offers the option of deactivating the fittings in a sanitary room for cleaning purposes. A standard switch is simply connected here with the SWS and the respective function is stored once. If the cleaning personnel now operate the respective switch, even showers can be cleaned without the risk of accidental actuation.

Diagnosis eSCHELL facilitates simple diagnosis of all linked fittings for the operator. Errors can be read quickly and reliably. Necessary repairs can thus be performed quickly, in a targeted manner and efficiently.
Documentation A function that becomes increasingly important for operators of public sanitary rooms: All uses, stagnation flushes and thermal disinfections are recorded in the system and can be read and evidenced with standard office software. Of course, the data on the server is safe against manipulation and is preserved in the event of a power failure. Documentation does not only serve to provide proof of intended operation. It also facilitates operational optimisation of the sanitary installation in the building – and thereby the optimisation of facility management.

Simple & quick: the installation of eSCHELL. Plug & Play – this is the motto describing the installation and networking of sanitary fittings with eSCHELL. Regardless whether via cable or wireless: high user-friendliness was the focus of developing this innovative SCHELL solution.
Networking per wireless. When networking per wireless the eSCHELL BUS Extender Wireless BE-F is simply added between Power Supply and fitting via existing connector. Clever: The BUS extender
receives its power via the original Power Supply of the fitting. The BUS extender therefore does not require any additional Power Supply.

Networking per cable. Connecting the eSCHELL BUS Extender Cable BE-K is just as simple as wireless networking. The BE-K is simply connected to the fitting via plug connector. The necessary Power Supply for the BE-K and fitting is provided via the central power supply unit. The connection is made via a standard telecommunication cable H(St)H2x2x0.8. It serves at the same time as communication cable between fitting and Water Management Server.
By the way, wiring does not need to meet any special structural requirements. Series wiring, star wiring and mixed formats are all feasible without problem. Only two minimum requirements need to be met: A single connection between Water Management Server and BE-K may not be longer than 350 metres and the sum of all cable lengths may not exceed 1,000 metres.
