Object of the game a too th… A B C a blin d per son … is ea tin g a a prin ces s… is hu ng ry ! a painting… a glove… a leg… WHO... A game by Nicolas Bourgoin, with artwork by Stéphane Gantiez. Decide which lines you are going to play with during the game: - Choose two symbols with the children: square, star or cross for the “Character” cards and triangle, heart or moon for the “Action” cards. (This is the easiest way to play.) - With older children choose a letter between A and C (for the “Character” cards) and a number between 1 and 3 (for the “Action” cards). 1 2 3 is la ug hi ng is wearing a lo lli po p! ou t lo ud ! motorcycle he lmet! is having a co ld shower! is washing his hair! Form two teams. Shuffle the “Character” cards and the “Action” cards separately and put them in the center of the table. For example play one round with children choosing the and symbols. The game The teams play in turn. For each turn, a member of the team takes a card from each pile (“I am” and “Who”). The player looks at them discretely, puts them face-down close to him and the timer is started. The player has one minute to get a team member to guess the corresponding phrase without using any words (so using miming and noises (onomatopoeia and humming) is permitted). The team members can guess as many times as they like. As soon as the answer has been guessed correctly, the pair of cards are verified. The player takes two new cards and continues in this way until the timer runs out. Tips : You could get your team to guess the character first and then get them to guess what he is doing. The guesses can be accepted even if they are not word for word correct. Examples: «the» instead of «one», «theirs» for «his» etc. Versions WHO... I AM... When the correct answer has been found, the pair of cards are set aside, face-up. Each such pair is worth 1 point. The pair of a nos e… cards which were not a cak e… is brus guessed correctly in hing a kin g… their teeth ! ing a calf Ais putt time are set aside in … mak e up on! ingpers a silly hang Bis play the middle of the table. on…man ! 1 Cis brush ingage a garb theircan hair! … 2 just stepped on a pin! 3 lost his underwear! Note: No points are won if only one of the two cards is guessed correctly. End of the game The game ends when there are no more cards left to be drawn from the pile. Each team counts the points they’ve earned. The one with the highest score wins! Young player The player can change one of his two cards before the timer runs out, but no more than once. Pass it forward If the challenge proves impossible when the player takes two cards, they can put the cards aside to be passed on to the opposing team when it is their turn. If this team guesses the correct answer they win 2 points instead of 1. Double or nothing Before picking up 2 cards, the player can say «I double». If the player manages to get their team to guess both cards, they count as double. If the player fails, the team loses 1 point. This can be repeated as often as desired as long as there is time remaining. Countdown duel The teams take turns and each team plays one pair of cards. The sand timer is flipped as soon as each pair of cards is validated (without waiting for it to empty completely). The more efficient the team, the less time the other team has! The first team to run out of time makes the other team win a point and will play first in the next round. Here you go, take this! Before beginning the game, the teams each take 20 cards (10 of each type). They remove 6 pairs... and pass them on, face-down, to the opposing team. Relay race A first player mimes a first set of clues. As soon as it is guessed correctly the 2nd player in the team plays and so forth until the timer runs out. «I want to be a staaaaarrrrrrrrr!» The actor takes a Character card and a bunch of Action cards. The letter / number combination determines the story that he has to tell by putting all the various actions together. The other players must suggest an interpretation. The first pair is worth 1 point (as usual) then every additional card is worth 1 point. Story mode The adult takes the cards at random and whispers the instructions in the child’s ear. The child must then get his friends to guess and the adult plays the role of the entertainer. This can also be played in Theatre mode if the children can read well enough: the spectators choose the cards and give them to the actor one at a time. Cocktail Games © 2014
