FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE
1.
Prepare a USB Flash Drive It is possible to jump previously released updates and install only the most recent Firmware Update file. These instructions are also applicable to firmware downgrades, when necessary. These instructions are for preparing a customer provided USB Flash Drive.
NOTE
If using a 10X Genomics provided Flash Drive skip ahead to step 2.
a)
Obtain an Empty USB Flash drive (2 GB minimum) that has been formatted for a Fat32 file format.
b) If using your own USB Flash Drive, Download the latest Firmware (FW) Update file(s) from the 10x Genomics® support site: support.10xgenomics.com. If using a 10X Genomics provided USB Flash Drive skip ahead to Step 2. c)
Move or copy the FW Update file to the top level of the USB Flash drive; do not put them in a folder.
d) Ensure no other FW Update files are at the top level of the USB Flash drive. Previous FW Update files may be in folders on the USB Flash drive. e)
Safely eject and remove the USB Flash drive from your computer.

Initialize the Chromium™ Controller The same instructions apply to the Chromium Single Cell Controller.
NOTE
a) Ensure the Chromium Controller is positioned in accordance with recommendations in the Chromium Controller Specifications. b) Turn off the Chromium Controller using the power switch on the back of the unit. c)
Insert the USB Flash drive into the USB port at the rear of the instrument.
d) Turn on the Chromium Controller using the power switch on the back of the unit.
e)
The Chromium Controller touchscreen will indicate initialization is in progress.
f)
When initialization is complete, press anywhere on the touchscreen of the Chromium Controller to bring up the Home screen.
g)
Press the Menu icon (upper right corner) to open the Menu screen.

Menu screen. Press the arrow (>) next to “firmware update” to open the Firmware Update screen.

Initiate the Firmware Update i)
Firmly press the arrow (>) in the Firmware Update screen and the update will begin.

A progress bar with the “In Bootloader” message will be visible on the Chromium™ Controller screen.
k)
The bar will fill left to right as the FW Update loading progresses; The entire upload should be completed within 10 – 15 seconds. When the original Chromium Controller Splash screen appears, the FW Update is complete.

FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE m) Remove the USB Flash drive. n) Turn on the Chromium Controller. o)
When initialization is complete, press any location on the touchscreen of the Chromium Controller to bring up the Home screen.
p) Press the Menu icon (upper right corner) to open the Menu screen. q) Press the arrow (>) next to “device” to open the Device Information screen.

Verify that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

Refer to the appropriate procedure for your system. For Chromium Controller use CG00025 and for Single Cell Chromium Controller use CG00051.
