AUTEAU® SHOWER CONTROLS Increasing demand for water from limited resources has provided a rising awareness that wastage must be controlled, not only to reduce the cost of our water supply and disposal, but also to limit the effects that such water consumption has on the environment in which we live. Reliance Water Controls has a long history of providing high quality products to meet the changing demands of the marketplace and the Auteau® range of self-closing controls is a key product range in the Reliance portfolio of water saving and water control devices. The Auteau® range of self-closing controls is particularly suited to hospitals, leisure centres, prisons, factories, public conveniences and wherever water conservation, product reliability and anti-vandal properties are important.
The Auteau® Range – why is it so special? The Auteau® Cartridge System Inside the Auteau® range of self-closing controls is a unique operating system that ensures the continued high performance of the valves, even in difficult hard water conditions. Most, if not all, other self-closing controls use some sort of controlled flow from one side of a diaphragm to the other and this system has a tendency to malfunction once scale has built up around or blocked the bleed-through passage, causing water to flow for longer than required, increasing wastage and costs, or shorter than required causing frustration. The Auteau® range of self-closing controls uses a unique cartridge system, incorporating a self-cleaning delay case that, instead of a hole, uses a groove to pass water from one side of the diaphragm to the other. Actuating the valve pushes a rubber washer down the length of the groove, cleaning away any scale deposits or other build up as it moves. In this way, every time the valve is used, it cleans itself, ensuring better performance and longer life. In addition Auteau® cartridges are protected by integral strainers which help to prevent system contamination and so further reduce the risks of performance deterioration.

The Auteau® range of timeflow shower valves includes standard non adjustable timeflow versions, temperature adjustable timeflow shower mixers and a self contained one piece shower panel.

15mm Push Button Concealed
Whatever the selection, all of the showers combine quality and pleasing design with serviceability and efficient performance in both surface mounted and concealed versions. Outstanding quality lies in the solid brass construction, the 100% factory testing and the unique self cleaning timeflow cartridge. The ergonomic and compact design means the valve will fit well in any application, whilst servicing is simplified by the easy to replace cartridge which is common to both the exposed and concealed versions of the valves and contains all the working parts. Extended Cross Wall Shower up to
Auteau® shower valves is assured by compliance with EN 816, the demanding European Standard for automatic shut off valves. Both the exposed and concealed versions of the valves are capable of working at between 0.3 and 6 bar and come complete with either an internal or external flow restrictor. The concealed versions of the valves are supplied with a purpose built cover plate which offers the unique benefit that it does not need to be removed in order to service the valve, making the complete replacement of the cartridge a quick and easy job.

AUTEAU® SHOWER CONTROLS Water Savings Explained Because of the dwindling natural resources and the high cost of water and waste treatment, it is now clearer than ever that we must change our usage habits in terms of water control. But how much water can a timeflow control really save? Consider the following example illustrated right. If we assume that the average person will spend about 4 minutes in a shower in a public facility, with an unregulated shower control running at 15 litres per minute, that person would use 60 litres of water.

If a timeflow shower control was fitted, the person would get wet and start soaping during the first run time of 30 seconds, finish soaping without water running and then rinse off during the second run time of 30 seconds. Perhaps they might activate the control a third time to rinse off any residual soap. With the internal flow regulator set at 8 litres per minute, in this showering the person will have used a maximum of 12 litres. A fourth or fifth activation would still use up considerably less than the unregulated manual shower. In addition to these substantial savings, the danger with a manual shower is that it can be left on by mistake, or vandalised, potentially wasting

Flow Regulation The standard (non mixer) Auteau® shower controls incorporate a special adjustable flow regulator which can be used to maintain a stable flow of water through the valve. Depending on the pressures being supplied to each particular installation, the setting of this may need to be changed. To change the flow rate setting adopt the following procedure:
1. Using a spanner remove the push button by unscrewing counter clockwise. 2. Carefully remove the large rubber washer from the top of the cartridge to expose the flow restrictor. 3. Remove the flow restrictor sleeve and reposition it so that one of the notches lines up with the datum mark on the cartridge. The lower the water pressure the bigger the notch and hence the greater flow rate that will be achieved.

AUTEAU SHOWER CONTROLS SELF 100 020 - AUTEAU® EXTENDED CROSS WALL SHOWER, 150mm SELF 100 025 - AUTEAU® EXTENDED CROSS WALL SHOWER, 200mm A high quality concealed timed flow shower control for installations of up to 200mm wall thickness where the water supplies and controls are in a void behind the showering area. Comes with a smooth action push button, all brass construction, chrome plated to a high standard for long life. The push button in the showering area has an anti-vandal locating pin to prevent rotation of the button and control once fitted. The brass fixing rod and the internal push rod can be cut on site to suit customer requirements.
