CORALAIS THREE-HANDLE BATH/SHOWER FAUCET  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN NOTES    CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Remove plaster guards, valve units, diverter and diverter sleeve before you apply heat to yoke. Shut off the main water supply. Observe all local plumbing and building codes. Do not remove plaster guards until instructed.   Install water hammer arrestors in supply lines. Kohler Co. reserves the right to make revisions in the design of faucets without notice, as specified in the Price Book. TOOLS AND MATERIALS RECOMMENDED Adjustable Wrench Tube Cutter Assorted Screwdrivers Hex Wrenches Strap Wrench Solder Plumbers Putty Drill Thread Sealant Propane Torch INSTALL VALVE   Determine location of support framing for yoke, spout, and showerhead. Install support framing as needed. 72” – 78” TO FLOOR (TYPICAL) 10” 4” BATH/SHOWER INSTALLATION 113716-2-CA (-)  1998 Kohler Co.     CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Remove plaster guards, valve units, diverter and diverter sleeve before you apply heat to yoke. Remove aspirator with a 3/8” hex wrench. Yoke has two union joints that can be used with either 1/2” N.P.T. pipe or copper tubing. Connect hot and cold supplies to yoke, so they are between 2-1/4” minimum and 3-1/2” maximum from the finished wall. Reinstall plaster guards, valve units, and aspirator. For ceiling supplies only:  Remove plaster guards and valve units from the yoke.  Turn the yoke upside down.  Reinstall the valve units, being sure to install the colored dot valve on the left side.  Reinstall the plaster guards. Finished Wall Plaster Guard Valve Units Union Joints 2” Min. 3-1/2” Max. 1/2” N.P.T. Pipe or Copper Tubing Plaster Guard Bath Outlet D-shape Up Yoke D-shape Down        A typical bath and shower installation is plumbed using 1/2” N.P.T. copper tubing, elbows, and adapters. Use thread sealant on all threaded connections. Secure the bath and shower piping to support framing. Install temporary nipples in bath and shower elbows. Turn on main water supply, making sure valves are closed. Turn on water to flush debris from valve and check for leaks. Turn off water. Complete the finished wall. 113716-2-CA (-) Temporary Nipples Elbow 1/2” N.P.T. or Copper Tubing Adapter Adapter 1/2” N.P.T. or Copper Tubing Elbow Temporary Nipples 2 Kohler Co., Kohler, WI INSTALL DIVERTER TRIM        Complete the finished wall and discard plaster guards. Apply a bead of plumbers putty or other sealant around the edge of the escutcheon according to the putty manufacturer’s instructions. Install the escutcheon over the diverter and align on the wall. Turn the valve stem fully to the right then remove the stem adapter. Reinstall the stem adapter so the D-shape is pointing downward. Align the D-shaped hole on the handle with the valve stem. Secure the handle in place with the screw and press the plug button into place. Carefully remove any excess putty or sealant from around escutcheon. Escutcheon Stem Adapter Plug Button Valve Stem Handle Screw INSTALL HANDLES      Apply a bead of plumbers putty or other sealant around the edge of the escutcheon according to the putty manufacturer’s instructions. Install the escutcheon over the threaded valve extension and align on the wall. Thread sleeve onto the threaded valve extension until the O-ring at the end of the sleeve engages with the escutcheon and seals. Align the D-shaped hole on the handle with the valve stem. Secure the handle in place with the screw and press the plug button into place. Carefully remove any excess putty or sealant from around escutcheon. Install 1/2” N.P.T. nipple for standard spout to extend 3-7/8” beyond finished wall or 7” for a large spout. Apply thread sealant to the nipple threads. Apply a bead of plumbers putty or other sealant around inlet of spout according to putty manufacturer’s instructions. Carefully tighten with a clean strap wrench. Remove excess putty or sealant. Apply Plumbers Putty Nipple 3-7/8” Apply Plumbers Putty Nipple 7”  For a slip fit spout, cut 1/2” copper tube to extend between 1-1/2” and 2-7/8” beyond finished wall.  Apply a bead of plumbers putty or other sealant around the inlet end of spout according to the putty manufacturer’s instructions.  Install the spout and carefully tighten setscrew in the bottom of the spout with a hex wrench. NOTE: Do not overtighten the setscrew. Copper Tube Apply Plumbers Putty 1-1/2” to 2-7/8” Setscrew Hex Wrench INSTALL SHOWERHEAD      Slip the escutcheon over the shower arm. Place thread sealant on shower arm threads. Thread shower arm into elbow and tighten with a clean strap wrench. With the showerhead removed, flush out the system. Place thread sealant on other end of the shower arm and thread on the showerhead. 113716-2-CA (-) Escutcheon Shower Arm Elbow Showerhead 4 Kohler Co., Kohler, WI INSTALLATION CHECKOUT    Open hot and cold valves and check for leaks. Run water for about a minute. Turn hot and cold water valves off.
