1. Clear Work Area. Use of this power tool may cause debris such as stones, dirt, wood, or metal to be propelled. Be sure that other persons and pets remain at least 100 feet away when using the grass shears. 2. Check for buried cables before use: Before cutting with this product, be sure to inspect area for any exposed or buried electrical or other cables. 3. Keep bystanders, children and visitors away while operating a power tool. Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions and warning to use the grass shear. Do not use the grass shear while people, especially children, or pets are nearby. Distractions can cause you to loose control.

1. Don't expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electrical shock. 2. Do not abuse the power cord. Never use the cord to carry the charger or pull the plug from the outlet. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords increase the risk of electrical shock. 3. Switch on the motor only when the hands and feet are away from the cutting means. 1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use tool while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. 2. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts. Wear protective hair covering to protect long hair. Wear long pants to shield legs when using edger. Gloves and substantial hard toed footwear are recommended when working outdoors. Never use power tool in bare feet or while wearing sandals. 3. Use protective equipment. Use safety glasses and if the cutting operation is dusty, a face or dust mask. 4. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations. NEVER use the unit’s guard as a handle.
Tool Use 1. Do not force tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed. 2. Do not use tool if power switch does not turn it on or off. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be replaced. 8

3. Remove the battery pack before making any adjustment, changing accessories or storing the tool. Such preventative safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally. 4. Store idle tools out of reach of children and others persons not familiar with tool. Tools are dangerous in the hands of users not familiar with the operating and safety instructions. 5. Check for misalignment, binding or breakage of moving parts, and any other condition that could adversely affect the tools operation. If damaged, have the tool serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools. 6. Accessories and Additional Devices. Use only accessories and additional devices specified in the operating instructions or are recommended by the tool manufacturer. The use of any insert tool or accessories other than those recommended increase risk of injury.

WARNING! : CHEMICAL HAZARD. Do not open battery pack casing. Protect the
battery pack from impacts. If electrolyte leakage occurs from the battery, it is essential to avoid contact with skin. If electrolyte does come into contact with your skin, rinse off with water immediately. In the event of electrolyte contact with your eyes, consult a physician immediately.
WARNING! : RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY. Before using the charger and battery pack,
read the Instruction Manual carefully. When using the battery operated grass shears the following safety precautions should be followed to reduce the risk of fire, leaking batteries and personal injury: 1. Verify the available current corresponds to current required by battery charger. 2. Verify correct polarity (+/-) before inserting the battery pack into the charger. 3. Do not use battery charger outdoors. Never let moisture, rain, or splashed water reach the charging location. 4. Do not charge battery pack when the temperature is below 10oC (50oF) or above 40oC (105oF). Charging battery at extreme temperatures can cause shorter battery life. 5. Damaged battery packs or batteries no longer accepting a charge must be disposed of as hazardous waste. Do not throw the battery pack into the trash, into fire, or into water. See Battery Recycling section for disposal information. 6. Do not operate charger with a damaged electrical cable or housing. Charger with damaged electrical cable is non-serviceable and must be replaced with a new one. 7. Use only battery packs and chargers approved by manufacturer for use in tools. Approved battery packs and chargers are listed in the Accessories section of this manual. 8. Always keep the charger free from dust and dirt. 9. Always remove battery pack before working on the tool. 10. Cover the battery pack contacts to avoid short-circuiting. 11. Avoid the risk of explosion! Do not throw Ni-Cd batteries into water or fire. 12. NO SMOKING in battery charging or storage areas. Damaged NiCAD or NiMH Batteries may vent the explosive gas hydrogen that can ignite on exposure to any naked flame or spark.

4. The battery pack should be recharged when it fails to produce sufficient power on jobs which were easily done previously. DO NOT CONTINUE to use under these conditions. Follow the charging procedure. You may also charge a partially used pack whenever you desire with no adverse affect on the battery pack. 5. Under certain conditions, with the charger plugged in to the power supply, the exposed charging contacts inside the charger can be shorted by foreign material. Foreign materials of a conductive nature such as, but no limited to, steel wool, aluminum foil, or any buildup of metallic particles should be kept away from charger cavities. 6. Always unplug the charger from the power supply when there is no battery pack in the cavity. 7. Unplug charger before attempting to clean. 8. Do not immerse charger in water or any other liquid.
MAINTENANCE WARNING! RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY. Always remove the battery pack before performing maintenance, making any adjustment, installing or changing accessories. 1. Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained tools, with sharp edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. 2. Remove the battery pack before cleaning the drill. 3. Do not use caustic cleaning agents or solvents to clean the plastic housing. 4. Do not submerge or pour water on the tool at any time. Do not rinse the machine with water. 5. The cutter should be stored in a dry place when it is not in use. 6. Before every use of this cutter, check whether the blade is in good order and it must be repaired in time if damage has been found. 7. The blade should be cleaned and lubricated in time after every use of the cutter. 8. When the cutter is to be used for a long time the blades should be lubricated during operations interval.

BLADE REPLACEMENT 1. (SEE FIGURE 4) To Remove the Blade Assembly: Place the grass shears upside down on a workbench. 2. Remove and retain the four blade screws and lock washers. 3. Remove the blade from the housing. 4. (SEE FIGURE 4) To Replace the Blade Assembly: Place the new blade on housing, with lock washer retained in step 2. NOTE: Drive spacer must be placed in the slot of the blade. 5. Install the four blade screws retained in step 2 and tighten securely.

Before Operating

1. Make sure that the battery pack to be used is conforming to the working voltage of the product shown on its nameplate. 2. Keep the blades lubricated well during operation. User may lubricate grass shears when they are not in use. 3

1. (SEE FIGURE 1) Locate On/Off button on Grass Shears. 2. To turn Grass Shears "ON": Push forward lockout button (3), then press trigger (2). 3. To Turn Grass Shears "OFF": Release button (3) and trigger (2).

Overview
OPERATING BATTERY CHARGING
The charger require no adjustment and are designed to be as easy as possible to operate. Simply place your battery packs into the receptacle of a plugged in charger and it will automatically charge the pack. Follow the step by step instructions listed below.

Clearing Grass Shears from Jams 1. If the grass shears stop, release the on/off button immediately.
CAUTION: Remove the battery pack from the unit, before removing grass or debris jammed in the cutting blades.
Battery Pack
Your tool uses a 7.2 volt battery pack. When ordering replacement battery packs, be sure to include catalog number and voltage. Extended Run-time battery packs deliver more run-time than standard battery packs. NOTE: your tool will except either standard or extended run time battery packs. However, be sure to select proper voltage.
Installing And Removing The Battery Pack NOTE: Make sure your battery pack is fully charged before installing. 1. (SEE FIGURE 2) To install the battery pack into the unit, open the cover (1), then push the battery pack (5) into the unit, close the cover. 2. To remove the battery pack from the unit, open the cover (1) and firmly pull the battery pack out.

1. (SEE FIGURE 3) Connect the adapter (8) Figure 3 7 plug to the battery charger (7) station. 8 2. Plug the adapter into an appropriate Adapter AC power outlet. Plug NOTE: The red LED (POWER) lights to tell you that the battery charger is ready for use. 3. Insert the battery pack into the battery charger station, making sure the battery pack is fully seated into the charger. NOTE: The green LED (CHARGE) lights to tell you that the battery pack is on charge. 4. The battery pack will be fully charged in about 5 hours. NOTE: The battery pack can be left in the charger without any risk of it being overcharged.
IMPORTANT CHARGING INFORMATION WARNING:! RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK. Do not allow any liquid to get inside charger. Electric shock may result. To facilitate the cooling of the battery pack after use, avoid placing the charger or battery pack in a warm environment such as in a metal shed, or an uninsulated trailer. CAUTION: Never attempt to open the battery pack for any reason. If the plastic housing of the battery pack breaks or cracks, return to a service center for recycling.

Your battery can be charged in 3-5 hour charger. Be sure to read all safety instructions before using your charger. This product is not user serviceable. There are no user serviceable parts inside the charger. Servicing at an authorized service center is required to avoid damage to static sensitive internal components. 6. Read all of the instructions in the battery charger section to this manual before attempting to charge the battery pack for your tool. 7. Always use correct battery pack (pack supplied with tool or replacement pack exactly like it.). 8. Never install any other battery pack, it will ruin your tool and may create hazardous condition. 4
Longest life and best performance can be obtained if the battery pack is charged when the air temperature is between 65oF-75oF (18oC-24oC). • Do not charge the battery pack in an air temperature below +40oF(+4.5oC), or above +105oF(+40.5oC). • This is important and will prevent serious damage to the battery pack. 1. The charger and battery pack may become warm to touch while charging. This is a normal condition, and does not indicate a problem. 2. Use the charger in normal room temperatures whenever possible. To prevent overheating, do not cover the charger and do not charge battery packs in direct sunlight or near heat sources. 3. If the battery pack does not charge properly: • Check current at receptacle by plugging in a lamp or other appliance. • Check to see if receptacle is connected to a light switch which turns power off when you turn out the light. • Move charger and battery pack to a location where the surrounding air temperature is approximately 65oF-75oF (18oC-24oC). • If charging problems persist, take or send the tool, battery pack and charger to your local service center. 5
