General Description The CPU-1420 is a Dual-Ethernet, low-power-consumption, Embedded 586-Enhanced Class Computer in PC/104-Plus form factor. It has four serial ports and one parallel port, two Fast Ethernet controllers, AT Keyboard and PS/2 Mouse. This module is particularly suitable for Communications Appliances such as Protocol Converter, Router or Gateway. The Embedded BIOS is located in a 1MB Flash Eprom and is re-programmable on-board. The set-up parameters are saved in the Flash, allowing the module to operate without a battery. Other peripherals available on board are: 2 extra timers, Real Time Clock, Watch Dog, Floppy controller, and IDE controller. The module requires a single +5V only. Like all Eurotech products, the CPU-1420 has been designed for harsh environments and for high reliability applications. It can resist vibrations, humidity, and both high and low temperatures. Its standard operating temperature is from 0°C up to +60°C, but it can be qualified for an extended temperature range (–55°C to +85°C).

• The Flash-BIOS has a capacity of 1 Mbyte, 256KB of which are used for the BIOS and its extensions. The remaining part of 768KB can be used as Read-Only Disk and/or to store the OS and the Used Programs/Data.

• Watch_Dog management. • Set_Up in Flash in order to avoid Set_Up corruption in field. • Virtual Peripheral Support (V.P.S.): this mode allows to bootstrap from the parallel or serial ports and redirect Keyboard, Video, Floppy Disk on the serial/parallel ports before booting the Operating System. It is also possible to redirect any of these peripherals as default setting.
