General Description This application note showing the stereo audio power amplifier demo board which designed to operate with the audio power amplifier for ICs CS6A4989. The demo board can work with supply voltage between ±5V to ±15V for driving a stereo channel headphone. It is a good candidate for being a pre-amplifier for the portable Hi-Fi WAV player. Under high output power application, heat sink installed onto the CS6A4989 IC is required, to avoid overheat damage. The demoboard is designed that amplifier IC (CS6A4989) can be laid horizontally with the demoboard, so a heat sink can be mounted beneath both the demoboard and amplifier IC. Besides heat sink installation, fan cooling is also recommended during output power application. The recommended optimal operating setup (in stereo mode) for this demo board is

Speaker/headphone with resistance lower than is not recommended Supply voltage higher than ±11V is not recommended Output voltage of this evaluation can up to 5VPP, please make sure the speaker/headphone can sustain such a high output voltage. If no, please adjust the signal gain of the demoboard. Audio signal gain can be adjusted by following equation: Gain for right channel =R104/R103 Gain for left channel = R102/R101 Reference to CS6A4989 datasheet before operation
