GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS RELATED TO THE INSTALLATION OF THE BROCADE DCX CHASSIS a. The DCX Chassis or the DCX 4S Chassis should be installed in the HDS 7846450 rack system per HDS standard practice leaving a minimum of 3 RU open immediately below the chassis for the installation of the Quantum Cabling Solution-Conversion Patch Panel (Part Number QS-100000000 figures 2 and 3). 2. INSTALLATION OF THE QUANTUM CABLING SOLUTION PATCH PANEL a. STEP 1 – Install the Quantum Cabling Solution Patch Panel 1 RU Adjustable Mounting Rail Kit (Part Number QS-000100000 Figure 1) below the DCX Chassis with the bottom of the rail at 2 RU below the Chassis, securing the rail kit to both front and rear rails. Utilize the mounting hardware supplied with the rail kit. Figure 1-1 RU Adjustable Mounting Rail Kit (Part Number QS-000100000) b. STEP 2 – Install the Quantum Cabling Solution Patch Panel on the Adjustable Mounting Rail Kit with the front of the patch panel oriented with the front of the DCX chassis and secure to the front rack rails only. Utilize the hardware supplied with the patch panel. Figure 3-Coupler Plate Loaded Figure 4-Coupler Plate Blank 3. INSTALLATION OF THE QUANTUM CABLING SOLUTION MTP/mSFP-LC PRO-SLIDE HARNESSES (for DCX Chassis) a. STEP 1-select the appropriate harness part number for the 8 port grouping position to be cabled on DCX FC8-64 blade, (i.e. position 1, 2, 3 or 4. See figure 5 below.) NOTE: The Quantum Cabling Solution harness kits are 8 channel MTP to mSFP-LC harnesses. The harness kit part numbers and lengths are specific to the type blade, chassis and the 8 port grouping position on the blade that will be utilized. The harnesses are also number 1 to 8 on the LC connector boot to coincide with the fan out leg stagger length, i.e. shortest to longest. When used in association with the DCX Chassis, 4 harness part numbers are required to populate 1 side of the DCX FC8-64 high density blade. The same 4 part numbers are required to populate the other side of the DCX FC8-64 high density blade. Therefore, to fully populate a DCX FC8-64 high density blade, 2 each of the 4 harness part numbers are required. (See table below for part numbers and descriptions).
