TECH NOTES Firmware Upload – Use the product embedded web page, Firmware Loader software or PCS software application to update the firmware via USB or TCP/IP connection. During the firmware upload, the unit will not respond to front panel, TCP/IP, RS-232 or USB control port changes. The process will take approximately 6.5 minutes including one minute of boot up time. Do not remove power during the firmware upload process. Wallplate Firmware – The PVS 407D will check, and automatically update firmware on connected PVT HDMI RGB (part# 60-1335-13) and PVT HDMI (part# 60-1270-13) wallplates to Rev. 1.01.0002, if necessary. If the update is not successful, disconnect then reconnect the wallplate RJ45 connection or power cycle the switcher to retry. The PVS 407D is only compatible with the wallplates specified above. Extron PCS software or product embedded web page can be used to verify the firmware versions if necessary. Date, Time and Time Zone Settings – Date, time and time zone can be set on the embedded web page or PCS software application. The settings will not be retained if power is disconnected. Embedded HDMI Audio – The PVS 407D will only support embedded PCM, twochannel, 48 kHz audio and provide an analog signal to the amplified and line outputs. HDMI inputs that are assigned EDIDs having multi-channel will not be de-embedded. Multi-channel digital audio signals will be passed-through to the HDMI output of the switcher, however, audio will not be output from the switcher’s amplified or line level connections. VoiceLift and Aux Input Audio – The PVS 407D does not embed VoiceLift and Aux Input audio on its HDMI output. VoiceLift and Aux Input audio will mute momentarily when inputs are switched.

Wallplate Analog Audio – The PVS 407D does not embed the analog audio from the wallplate on its HDMI output. The analog audio from the wallplate will always take precedence over an active embedded HDMI digital audio and output at the line out and amplifier outputs when the 3.5mm stereo mini audio jack is connected to the wallplate. File Playback Audio – The PVS 407D does not embed file playback audio on its HDMI output. An active file playback audio will mute the system audio. Switcher’s HDMI Output Audio – By default the embedded HDMI output audio to a display is muted. It can be un-muted using the “IMUT” SIS command. Please consult the User’s Manual for more information. No video and audio output when PVS 405D wallplates are connected – The PVS 407D will not output video and audio when PVS 405D wallplates are connected. PVS 405D wallplates, PVT SW HDMI RGB D (part# 60-1335-03) and PVT SW HDMI D (part# 60-1270-03), are not compatible and will not work with the PVS 407D.

FIRMWARE RELEASE HISTORY Released Version: 1.02.0000-b002 Affects: PVS 407D Firmware Revision: 1.01.0000-b010 and prior PVT HDMI RGB Firmware Revision: 1.00.0000 PVT HDMI Firmware Revision: 1.00.0000 Date: Units shipped prior to April 2016 The following is a list of changes and fixes in this release. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.01.0000-b010) – PVS 407D will attempt to load firmware to second wallplate – PVS 407D will always attempt to load the firmware to the second wallplate when power is applied. This issue has been resolved. Added Feature – Updated PVT wallplate firmware 1.01.0002 – PVT HDMI RGB and PVT HDMI wallplate firmware version 1.01.0002 have been included in the PVS 407D firmware. Improved Feature – Improved the stability of VGA input video signal – Wallplate firmware version 1.01.0002 improves the stability of VGA input video signal on the wallplate when the PVS 407D is connected to a certain display models. Improved Feature – Improved input channel query – The input channel query after switching has been optimized for more rapid response. Improved Feature – Improved audio mute/unmute state reporting – Firmware will report the state change for output audio mute/unmute and program audio mute/unmute to all communication ports when in verbose modes 1 and 3.

FIRMWARE RELEASE HISTORY Released Version: 1.01.0000-b010 Affects: PVS 407D Firmware Revision: 1.00.0000-b012 Date: Units shipped prior to March 2016 The following is a list of changes and fixes in this release. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.00.0000-b012) – Aux and VoiceLift audio stays muted until input is switched – Paging sensor is re-triggered while still active will always cause the Aux and VoiceLift audio to stay muted until input is switched after the paging sensor hold time expires. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.00.0000-b012) – Front panel input channel LED’s continue flashing after a reset – The front panel input channel LED’s will always continue to flash if video is muted first and reset is performed. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.00.0000-b012) – Repeated trigger of audio file playback – The active communication port may intermittently stop responding when the audio file playback is triggered nonstop repeatedly. This issue has been resolved. Added Feature – Internal fan control – The internal fan will automatically turn on when wallplate or video signal on any inputs are detected. Added Feature – VoiceLift receiver firmware update – This new feature allows the PVS 407D to update the VoiceLift Receiver firmware. Improved Feature – Improved Hot-Plug-Detect (HPD) with older generation Apple TV – The Hot-Plug-Detect (HPD) duration has been optimized to be compatible with older generation Apple TV.
