Experience Simon Spear is a Freelance Camera Operator, Underwater Camera Operator, Premiere Pro CC / FCP7 Editor, Director, Producer and Filmmaker. Simon started filming in 2003 while scuba diving in the Indian Ocean and instantly developed a love for filmmaking, subsequently winning over 25 international awards for his work including two awards for Cinematography at the International Wildlife Film Festival. Simon has filmed for productions broadcast on the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, NHK, Discovery Animal Planet and National Geographic, in addition to numerous independent documentaries and cinema productions. Simon is a trained HSE Commercial Diver and PADI Divemaster. In addition to his underwater filming Simon also works as an above water Camera Operator, Premiere Pro CC/ FCP7 Editor and Director/Producer for a variety of production companies and organisations. He has extensive experience of filming and post production work for corporate films, corporate events, commercials, tutorials, training films, documentaries, live events, cinema productions, weddings, music videos, model showreels and property advertising.

Spear FILMS
In 2010 Simon formed a small independent production company Spear FILMS, where his roles include Camera Operator, Editor and Director/Producer. The majority of Spear FILMS work consists of Corporate Films, Weddings, Live Events and Commercials although they also produce Music Videos and Model Showreels. Simon continues to work freelance and for other productions in addition to his work with Spear FILMS.

Simon works as a freelance Video Journalist, Camera Operator, Editor and FIlmmaker for Video Direct who produce a range of Corporate Films, Tutorials and Commercials.

Elasmo Films UK
Elasmo Films produce Natural History Documentaries and Educational Films focusing on the Marine Environment. Simon’s roles have included Camera Operator, Underwater Camera Operator, Editor, Director and Producer.

Shark Conservation
Society
Simon is Director of Photography for the Shark Conservation Society where he advises on the filming and production of campaign films and the demands and logistics of filming in often remote locations during research expeditions.
