INSTRUCTION MANUAL DC/POTENTIOMETER CONVERTER Thank you for choosing M-System. Before use, check specifications on the unit label. If you have any problems or questions with the product, please contact M-System’s Sales Office or representatives. CVR1 model Terminal Connections Connect to terminals as shown below. Use the socket provided. + INPUT 1 R * – General Description 5 3 6 2 max. OUTPUT 1 The M-UNIT Model CVR1 accepts a wide variety of DC inputs and provides various slidewire outputs. 0–135Ω, 0–1kΩ and others. min. 7 U(+) POWER 8 V(–) Installation [Scale: mm(inch)] 4 FE* • Operating temperature: -5 to +40°C (23 to 104°F) • Operating humidity: 30 to 90% RH (non-condensing) • The CVR1 should be mounted horizontally to a vertical surface for proper operation. Protect from moisture, corrosive gases, dust and vibrations. DIN-rail or wall-mounted. 40 ± 0.2 (1.57± .01) 2–M4 SCREW When mounting, no extra space is needed between units. Points Of Caution WARNING • Risk of Electrical Shock and Mechanical Hazard: The Front Cover is to be Opened Only by Qualified Service Personnel. • Before You Remove the Unit from its Base Socket or Mount it, Turn Off the Power Supply and Input Signal for Safety. ■ CONFORMITY WITH EC DIRECTIVE (CE is unavailable for certain model suffix options.) • This equipment is suitable for use in a Pollution Degree 2 environment and in Installation Category II, with the maximum operating voltage of 300V. Basic insulation is maintained between signal input and output. Prior to installation, check that the insulation class of this unit satisfies the system requirements. • Altitude up to 2000 meters • The equipment must be mounted inside a panel. • The equipment must be installed such that appropriate clearance and creepage distances are maintained to conform to CE requirements. Failure to observe these requirements may invalidate the CE conformance. 2 *1. Input shunt resistor attached for current input. *2. Only for power Input code M2. In order to improve EMC performance, bond the FE terminal to ground. Caution: This terminal is NOT a protective conductor terminal. Adjustments This unit is factory calibrated against a reference input within the described accuracy. ZERO and SPAN are adjustable ±20% at the input side. The unit is equipped with an automatic deadband adjustment function. This function engages – widens deadband – when the input change frequency is too rapid. Therefore, whenever input is changed or zero/ span adjustments are made, let the unit stabilize for at least 20 seconds before measuring the output. Re-calibration procedure: A) ZERO: With reference input set at 0%, adjust output to 0%. B) SPAN: With reference input set at 100%, adjust output to 100%. C) Reconfirm the ZERO setting. D) If the ZERO value has changed, repeat steps A) – C). Troubleshooting When output is irregular, check the following points: A) Terminal wiring B) Power wiring and polarity C) Input: Check voltage across the terminal 5 (+) – 6 (–) with a voltmeter. D) Output: Check resistance across the terminal 1 – 2 and 2 – 3 with a resistance meter.
