Do not use an extension cord to connect this appliance to a power supply. Do not use this appliance if the power cord is damaged. Do not attempt to repair a damaged power cord. Caution! Use care when moving this unit. This unit cannot be dropped as it will impact the performance of the electronics. Take care not to expose the power cord to heat (i.e. near the flue, etc.) and be careful not to damage the cord by pinching or rubbing on sharp edges. Do not clean the broiler with a power washer. This appliance is not approved for power washing. The appliance generates significant amounts of heat and the operator should take care when touching accessible surfaces that are likely to get hot. Surfaces close to the cooking surface including side panels may get hot enough to burn skin. Do not attempt to service this appliance unless you are a qualified service technician. This appliance is intended for commercial use only and should only be operated by fully trained and qualified personnel. The electrical power supply must be disconnected prior to cleaning or any maintenance or service work being done on the appliance. Do not sit or stand on the appliance under any circumstances. NEW LATCHING PIN INSTALLATION •
The new pin will allow the upper grate to latch easily and facilitate cleaning behind the upper grate.
•
Part required for installation: New Release/Latching Pin, part #4532334.
Turn broiler off and disconnect power supply.

4. Remove the Allen screw located in the knob assembly. allen screw
To unlatch top grate from cowl assembly: 1. Raise the platen. 2. Untighten knob counterclockwise, approximately five turns, until grate drops about 1/4” to a safety lock, not allowing the grate to drop all the way down as shown below.
5. Remove knob and bracket from pin. Save them for re-assembling. remove knob
6. Unthread and pull the latching pin away from the front of the cowl. Discard the old latching pin.
3. Simultaneously push the grate up while pulling the knob out to release the grate (below). Knob does not come out of the cowl assembly. Grate can now separate from the cowl assembly. Keep holding the grate while allowing it to drop down to its resting position.
7. To install the new latching pin, perform steps 2 to 6 in reverse order.

IMPORTANT: Hand support should be maintained until the grate is fully locked in closed or open resting position, to prevent the sudden drop of the grate assembly.

HEAT TENT INSTALLATION •
The new Heat Tent Assembly will protect and extend the life of the lower IR element.
•
The Heat Tent can be removed for cleaning at end of day.
•
The rear flashing will also help to reduce cleaning time.
Turn broiler off and disconnect power supply.
•
Part required for installation: Broiler Heat Tent Assembly, part #4600398.
HOT SURFACE Grill Temperatures Will Cause Severe Burns
To install a heat tent assembly: 1. Raise platen and open the lower grates.
PPE Approved Personal Protective Equipment Must be worn
3. Insert the Heat Tent assembly in the orientation as shown. No fasteners are required.
2. Use Scotch Brite green pads to clean the heating elements and interior surfaces. Remove any dirt and grease from the area.
4. Ensure the Heat Tent assembly sits properly in place before closing the grates. Shown below is a top view of a Heat Tent in installed position.

NEW CAM BLOCK ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION •
The new CAM block assembly will prevent accidental over-rotation of platen.
•
Parts required for installation: •
New CAM Block Assembly, part #4600642.
•
Screw, 3/8”-16 x 1” SS Hex Cap, with threadlocker, part #F751 (x3).
Turn broiler off and disconnect power supply.

To install the new CAM block assembly: 1. Put the platen in DOWN position. 2. Use a 9/16” (or 14mm) open end wrench or socket to loosen (counterclockwise) and remove the three (3) bolts “A”. Then remove block “B”, gasket “C” and pivot plate “D” .
Discard parts “A”, “B”, “C” and “D”.

3. Insert the new CAM block assembly onto the pivot base. Fasten the CAM block with three (3) new screws provided (F751, with threadlocker preapplied). The required tightening torque is 240lb-in. Torquing the fasteners between 240 to 360 lb-in is acceptable.

EXHAUST FAN REPLACEMENT KIT INSTALLATION •
Part required for installation: •
Exhaust Fan Replacement Kit, part #CK4600507
•
New Exhaust Tray, part #4600388
•
Re-use existing thumb screws.
•
Fan Kit includes an exhaust motor, a motor plate, a conduit assembly, and a NEW radial blower wheel. All items are preassembled.
•
NOTE: The exhaust fan assembly can be installed without opening any panels.
Turn broiler off and disconnect power supply.
•

PPE Approved Personal Protective Equipment Must be worn
To install the new exhaust fan assembly: 1. Disconnect the electric conduit coupling at the back of the broiler.
2. Slowly and carefully, pull the conduit upward, allowing the two (2) wire connectors to pass through the bulkhead adaptor/feedthrough coupling (C).
3. Remove the three (3) thumb screws located around the motor and remove the motor assembly. Keep the thumb screws.
4. Remove the housing and wipe off any dirt and grease on it.
When the wire connectors are exposed, pull the connectors apart to free the conduit. IMPORTANT: Pull the fan motor wires out slowly and carefully or risk damaging the connectors or disconnecting them while still inside the unit.

EXHAUST FAN REPLACEMENT KIT INSTALLATION CONTINUED 5. Remove and discard the old exhaust tray. Wipe off any dirt and grease from the platen top and then install the new exhaust tray.

8. Carefully feed the new wires through the bulkhead adaptor.

9. Ensure the conduit coupling is tightened.
6. Place the housing and the NEW motor assembly in place. Then tighten the three (3) thumb screws manually by hand.
7. Connect the new fan motor wires. Connect black wire to black wire; brown wire to brown wire.

The Fan Removal Kit is provided only to a CFA store not requiring an exhaust fan on the broiler.

To remove the existing fan and exhaust tray: 1. To access the fan wires, remove the four (4) screws from the rear upper panel. Remove the panel. 4. At the back of the broiler, locate the disconnected fan motor wires and pull them back through the bulkhead adaptor (C, above) and out of the back of the broiler. Cap the connectors with the wire termination harness (A, below) as shown. Connect black wire to black wire; brown wire to brown wire.

FAN REMOVAL KIT INSTALLATION CONTINUED 5. Use a new wire tire to tie up the loose wires neatly.
6. Cap the conduit bulkhead adaptor (C) with the seal cap (A), which contains a retainer (B) for locking.
7. Remove the three (3) thumb screws located around the motor and remove the motor assembly, the housing, and then the exhaust tray.

The new rear reinforcement plate will reinforce the frame for stronger arm pivot support.

To install the new rear plates: 1. Remove the four (4) screws from the rear upper panel.
3. Install the new reinforcement plate using the bolts, washers, lock washers and nuts provided. Attach the two (2) bolts on the lower part of the plate using nuts assembled behind the plate. IMPORTANT: Ensure all washers and lock washers are in place. IMPORTANT: Ensure all wires are away from the edges when installing and tightening the plate.
2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the four (4) screws from the rear lower panel. Save two of the screws.

NEW BROILER BOX FRONT COVER INSTALLATION •
The new broiler box front cover will prevent grease migration into the interior.

Parts required for installation: •

4. To take out the push button, first use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw slightly to release tension.
To install the new broiler box front cover: 1. Raise platen. 2. Remove the old top front cover by removing the five (5) Phillips screws as shown. Save the screws.
5. Then use a small flat screwdriver to push the lever out to free the switch from the button.
6. Lift the switch up and put it aside. To remove the button, push it out from the back. 3. Open the front cover. IMPORTANT: Be gentle with the electrical wires connecting the push button.

NEW BROILER BOX FRONT COVER INSTALLATION CONTINUED 7. To reinstall the push button assembly on the new cover, perform steps 4 to 6 in reverse order. NOTE: Orient the notch, on the back of the button, towards the screw hole and then gently snap the switch back onto the button and tighten the screw.
8. Place the new cover into position and secure it with the same screws from step 1. IMPORTANT: Ensure the push button wires are away from the edges when installing the cover.

NEW BRUSH HOLDER INSTALLATION The new Brush Holder will hold both current and new brushes from CFA. New Brush Holder, part #4600498. Current Brush
New Brush To install the new brush holder: 1. Remove the old brush holder by removing the upper screw and loosening the bottom screw. Discard the old brush holder. 2. Install the new holder with the same screws.
TOOL HOLDER INSTALLATION The new Tool Holder will improve tool management. Tool Holder, part #4600461. To install a new tool holder, simply hang the Tool Holder onto the four (4) shoulder bolts on the front lower panel. Do not loosen the bolts. Ensure all the slots on the holder are engaged into the bolts.
MAIN POWER SWITCH INFORMATION The new main power switch, with green LED light, is sealed. The illustration below shows the differences between the original and the new switches. Installation sheet is included in the Power Switch Kit. •
Replace the ORIGINAL Switch 1 with either the BLACK Sealed Switch 2 (use until stock is depleted) or the NEW GREEN Sealed Swtich 3 . The NEW GREEN Switch 3 is the latest version and is backward compatible. FRONT VIEW
