Fire Alarm Systems | D323A Analog Photoelectric Smoke Detector Head D323A Analog Photoelectric Smoke Detector Head www.boschsecurity.com The D323A Analog Photoelectric Smoke Detector Head is (FACPs). The D323A detects dense smoke typically given off by plastic, foam, paper, wood, and other materials that tend to smolder. It can detect fast‑flaming fires. It uses an LED and photodiode to measure particulate levels in its detection chamber. These measurements are transmitted in digital form to the control panel. The system allows for adjusting sensitivity levels by the detector over a range of 0.05% to 4.0% obscuration. Sensitivity levels for specific detectors can be modified on a daily schedule. The D323A has two LEDs that flash every time the device is polled, and latch on red when the device goes into alarm. The unique detection chamber design prevents external light from affecting the photodiode. Functions Control Panel Connection The D323A has an eight‑bit microprocessor and communicates with the control panel (both power and data) over a two‑wire polling circuit. Each polling circuit can support up to 126 analog devices. The circuit can be configured as either a Class A or a u Addressable analog photoelectric smoke detector head that mounts on D321A or D336A Analog Detector Base u Advanced digital communications protocol u Digital data communications and power provided over two-wire circuit u Easy head removal for cleaning and servicing u Dual Polling Status and Latching Alarm LEDs on head for easy viewing Class B polling circuit. Removing the D323A head from the base for service initiates a trouble signal but does not interrupt the polling circuit. Contamination Testing FACP Polling: The D8024 and D10024A FACPs are UL Listed to monitor the contamination level of the D323A. The FACP monitors the test condition (level of contamination) of the detector as part of its normal polling activity. This electrical test determines if the device is within its UL Listed calibration range. The control panel automatically compensates for contamination of the detector and indicates when the device requires cleaning. Manual: The detector can also be tested using the Bosch Security Systems' D1000 Smoke Test Box, a UL Listed calibrated testing device. Depending on the amount of particulates, the rate of change, and the established standard, the control panel can initiate an alarm or trouble condition. Attach the D323A to a D321A Analog Detector Base (6 in. [15 cm]) or a D336A Analog Detector Base (4 in. [10 cm]) by inserting the detector head into a groove on the base and turning the head clockwise. The base’s security locking tab prevents any unauthorized head removal from the base. Mounting Smoke detectors are typically mounted on the ceiling. However, if smoke detectors are mounted on a wall, they must be at least 4 in. (10 cm), but no more than 12 in. (30.5 cm), below the ceiling. For UL Listing requirements, the spacing between detectors should be no more than 30 ft (9 m). Programming The D323A’s address is set by programming an EEPROM microchip located in the detector head. The D5070 Analog Device Programmer is required for address setting. Parts included Quant.
