Overview The HP Medical Archive Solution consists of integrated hardware and software, designed to simplify diagnostic image and medical document archives at imaging centers, clinics and hospitals, as well as multi-site integrated delivery networks. Deployment racks are factory built configurations that support 5, 10, and 20 terabytes of compressed and protected data. With protection of both your information and your investment in mind, the HP Medical Archive solution includes technology refreshes over time, and can adapt to your changing capacity requirements, with seamless scalability to petabyte ranges, if necessary. Shared access to the medical archive can securely be implemented across multiple departments and sites using existing LAN, WAN, or MAN networking infrastructure, promoting collaboration among radiologists and other physicians who are working together to accelerate patient care. Most importantly, the HP Medical Archive, built with no single point of failure and focused on data integrity and reliability, comes with 24/7 support to ensure continuous access to your data. Because the HP Medical Archive Solution uses open-standards throughout, there is no risk for vendor lock-in in your IT environment; consequently an affordable price point contributes to an attractive TCO for cost conscious healthcare organizations. With a commitment to these open standards, the HP Medical Archive utilizes ProLiant DL380 G4 servers, the state-of-the-art technology founded on a rich history of design excellent with enterprise-class uptime and manageability, proven Intel Xeon performance, and 2U density for the scalable rack deployments. The HP Medical Archive also incorporates the HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 20 Enclosure (MSA20), which is a SATA 1.5 Gb/s disk drive storage enclosure with Ultra320 SCSI host connectivity. These enclosures deliver industry-leading availability, storage density, and upgradeability. The MSA20 provides the ideal mix of low-cost and high capacity, suitable for reference data, archiving, and disk-to-disk backup. The HP Medical Archive software gives IT the flexibility to define how data is managed and distributed across tiers of storage, transparent to the medical professionals using the system. Medical professionals can access patient studies, using familiar terms, including modality type, patient information, and other metadata beyond date and timestamps for files. Medical studies, transmitted via streaming technology, provide radiologists with fast and secure access, regardless of the media grade where the data is stored, and regardless of where the medical professional resides. HP Medical Archive Solution Architecture
The HP Medical Archive architecture provides a secure, reliable, and high performance solution for the storage and distribution of very high volumes of fixed content health care data within a data center and optionally a disaster recovery (DR) site. Grid computing is based on the principle that access to computational resources (storage, processing power, and data) can be enhanced with high levels of reliability and scalability, analogous to obtaining electric power from the power grid. Grid storage is the application of grid computing principles to storage architecture: directories, query, resource management, and fault management. The HP Medical Archive system is composed of multiple nodes, which form a unified archive. Each node consists of software services operating on a server that manages a limited capacity storage resource. Within a given facility, all nodes are interconnected using standard TCP/IP networking, and communicate with local imaging modalities, PACS, and workstations. Wide Area Network (WAN) links extend the grid, enabling off-site replication of content for disaster recovery. The HP Medical Archive deployment relies on open standards for interoperability with external hospital systems. Exchange of clinical data with external clinical systems, including PACS, viewing workstations, and modalities, takes place over standardized network file system protocols (NFS/CIFS) or (optionally) via established imaging protocols, including DICOM.

The HP Medical Archive solution models described in this document are constructed according to the architecture described above, with a Gateway Node, two Control Nodes and two Storage nodes (four in the case of the HP 20TB Medical Archive), and an Admin Node. The various component nodes are described below. HP Services will provide product support which gives the customer access to HP's experienced technical support resources as well as access to HP's Information Services database for support on a variety of multi-vendor/multi-platform software products. Product support includes escalations and problem coordination with the appropriate engineering group. Product Installation: The HP Medical Archive Solutions will be installed by HP personnel. Installation service will cover hardware, software and configuration of the software. Hardware: Mandatory support coverage for all the hardware components. Includes 3 Year parts labor and onsite NBD, with the 1st year having a 24 x 7, 4-hour response time uplift. Software: Mandatory software support coverage from HP Services. This includes software Installation as well as software support plus one yearly update, 24 x 7, 2-hour response time
Level 1, 2, and 3 Support: Level 1 Support - HP Customer Support Centers Level 1 support is defined as the identifying, troubleshooting, and documenting problems reported in customer incidents. Level 2 Support -Level 2 support is defined as analyzing the problem reported, using in-depth troubleshooting techniques to reproduce the problem or to determine that the problem cannot be reproduced. CS Level 2 support will escalate all hardware and software issues to HP Product Support group if required. Level 3 Support -Sustaining Engineering.
