Extron’s DDTX/DDRX pair is a transmitter-receiver set consisting of a direct digital transmitter (DDTX) and direct digital receiver (DDRX). The transmitter half of the pair is compatible with a Digital Flat Panel (DFP) video signal or a single link of Digital Visual Interface digital only (DVI-D) video (with a DVI-to-DFP adapter) from a PC or other device that outputs digital video. The transmitter converts the signal to four proprietary digital signals and outputs the signal over coax cable to the receiver half of the pair. The transmitter also sends and receives the bi-directional DFP/DVI Display Data Channel (DDC) signals on a separate set of connectors. The receiver converts the proprietary digital signals back to DFP/DVI video and outputs it for use by a compatible display device. The digital interface eliminates the need for analog-to-digital conversion, ensuring a sharp, crystal-clear image on the monitor. The DVI standard, also referred to as PanelLink and PanelLink Digital by Silicon Image, specifies single link and dual link digital versions for either the digital only (DVI-D) or digital and analog combined (DVI-I) connector standards. The D/2 DA4 supports a single link of DVI-D if connected through a DVI-to-DFP adapter. The DFP and DVI interface ordinarily limits the maximum separation between the computer and monitor to 16.4' (5m). This limitation makes the DDTX/DDRX indispensable in applications requiring transmission of video across long separations of up to 330' (100.584m) between a computer that outputs digital video and a device that displays direct digital video. The maximum distance between the transmitter and receiver depends on the cables used. A maximum distance limit of 150' (45.72m) applies to systems using cable of the quality of Extron Mini High Resolution cable. A maximum distance limit of 330' (100.584m) applies to systems using cable of the quality of Extron Super High Resolution cable. The DDTX and DDRX units are rack mountable and have internal, autoswitching power supplies. FEATURES ■ Input – Single DFP connector is compatible with DFP video or a single link of DVI-D video through an optional DVI-to-DFP adapter. ■ Throughputs – Four BNC connectors on the DDTX transmit proprietary digital signals; four BNC connectors on the DDRX receive the proprietary signals.
