ATTENTION 1. Do not plug or unplug the power cable while you have wet hands; 2. When planning not to use this unit for a long time, disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet; 3. When disconnecting the power cord from the wall outlet, do not pull on the cord in order to avoid shock risks caused by damaged cable. BATTERY OPERATION Disconnect the AC Cord Set completely. Open the Battery Compartment Door and insert 6 pieces UM-2 "C" size batteries into the battery compartment with battery polarity as shown inside the battery compartment. NOTE : To turn off the unit, set the function switch to TAPE position RADIO OPERATION 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Set the function switch to RADIO position. Set the Band Switch to the "AM" or "FM" position. Turn the Tuning Knob to your desired radio station. Adjust the sound level by rotating the Volume Control Knob. To turn off the radio, set the function switch to TAPE position. FM STEREO INDICATOR When turn to a FM stereo broadcast the "FM ST." LED Indicator will light up. ANTENNA For best reception, fully extend the FM Antenna to receive FM stations. For AM reception, the unit has a built-in antenna, turn the whole unit for best reception. CASSETTE OPERATION Tape Playback 1. 2. 3. 4. Press the Eject Button to open the cassette door, insert a cassette tape into the Cassette Compartment and push the cassette door to close. Slide the Function Switch to Tape position and press the Play Button to start playing the tape. Adjust the Volume Control Knob to your desired volume level. To stop the tape, simply press the Stop Button. Fast Forward and Rewind The tape can be fast forward or rewind by pressing the Fast Forward Button or Rewind Button respectively. Auto Stop System When the tape runs to its end during playback or recording, the cassette operation will be stopped automatically. CAUTION: To avoid damage to the cassette mechanism or to the cassette tape, always press the Stop Button between each operation Pagina 3 RECORDING FROM THE RADIO 1. Tune to desired radio program as described in the "Radio Operation" section. 2. Insert a blank cassette tape into the Cassette Compartment. 3. Press the Record Button and the Play Button simultaneously to start recording. With the built-in Automatic Level Control (ALC), the best recording quality is automatically adjusted. Changing the volume level will not affect the recording. 4. To stop recording temporarily, press the Pause Button. To continue the recording, press the Pause Button once again. 5. Press the Stop Button to stop recording. 6. When the tape runs to its end, the cassette operation will be stopped automatically. CD/MP3 OPERATION Playing a Compact Disc 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Set the Function Switch to CD/MP3 position. Open the CD compartment by pushing the CD door open button. Put a CD into the compartment and close the CD door. The unit will start reading the disc and the total number of tracks in the entire disc will display. If Play/Pause Button is pressed during stop mode, the first track will be played. If Play/Pause Button is pressed during play mode, the CD will go to pause mode and pause signal will be shown on. 6. If Stop Button is pressed during play or pause mode, the CD will go to stop mode and display total no. of track. Playing a MP3 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Insert a MP3 disc into the CD compartment and close the door. The unit will start reading the disc and the total number of tracks in the entire disc will display. If Play/Pause Button is pressed during stop mode, the first track will be played. Press Folder UP Button to select the album you want to listen. To stop play, press the Stop Button Skip Mode 1. During play or pause mode, if Skip up  Button is pressed, it will go to next track and display the track no. and then continue play or pause mode. 2. During play or pause mode, if Skip down  Button is pressed, it will go back to the beginning of the track, same track no. is display and CD continue the play or pause mode. 3. After step 2, press Skip down  Button again, it will go to the previous track and continue the play or pause mode. Different Play Mode Mode Button can be pressed during play to accomplish many different kinds of play. Pagina 4 Programming (operates by remote control only) In case of CD Disc 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Set in CD/MP3 mode. (Please ensure unit in CD stop mode) Press the Program Button on the remote, display will flash. Select a desired track by using the Skip Buttons. Press the Program Button to enter the track into setting. LCD display changes to 02. Repeat step 3-4, up to 20 tracks can be programmed in any order. Press Play Button once to start playing the first track of your programmed list. Press Stop Button once to cancel the programming. In case of MP3 Disc All procedure is same as normal disc. But if you have directory in your disc, you have to select directory and track both. You can program up to 20 songs with above method. RECORDING FROM CD/MP3 PLAYER 1. 2. 3. 4. Slide the Function Switch to "CD/MP3" position. Put a CD or MP3 disc into the CD compartment with the label on top. Insert a blank cassette into the Cassette compartment and press Pause Button of the cassette deck. Press Record Button and Play Button simultaneously of recording stand-by. With the built-in ALC, the best recording quality is adjusted. 5. Activate the CD player, playing in a desired track as described in the CD Player Operation section. Release the Pause Button of the cassette deck to start recording. 6. To temporary stop recording, press the Pause Button. To continue recording, press the Pause Button again. 7. Press Stop Button of the cassette deck to stop recording, then stop CD playback by pressing CD Stop Button of the CD player. REMOTE CONTROL Open the Battery Compartment Door and insert two pieces "AA" size batteries into the battery compartment with battery polarity as shown inside the battery compartment. Point the remote control at the remote sensor. The functions of the buttons on the remote control are same as the corresponding controls on the main unit. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Pagina 5 STEREO HEADPHONE JACK For private listening, insert the plug of a stereo headphone into the Stereo Headphone Jack and adjust the Volume Control Knob accordingly. During the use of a headphone, the speakers are automatically disconnected. AUX/MP3-IN CONNECTION 1. Insert the audio cable into the Line Out Jack or Phones Jack on your MP3 Player/iPod. Another ends inserts into the corresponding AUX/MP3-IN Input Jack on your main unit; 2. Turn on your main unit and slide the Function Selector to AUX/MP3-IN position; 3. Make sure your device in component is turned on, and follow your component’s instruction; 4. To stop this function, simply slide the Function Selector to Tape position. CARE AND MAINTENANCE Precautions 1. Always turn off the unit after use. 2. Keep the unit away from magnetic objects, water or heat sources. 3. Use a clean soft cloth moistened with lukewarm water to clean the cabinet. Never use chemical cleaners that could damage the finish of the unit. 4. Never touch the CD pickup and lens. If fingerprints get on the pickup lens, clean it gently with a commercial lens cleaner. 5. Disconnect the unit from any power sources before cleaning. Note: Because of none-standardized format definition/production of MP3 CD, playback quality & performance are not guaranteed.
