Notes Page 3 of 22 Release Type and Definition The WES7P v9.05 unified build 7020 is a 64-bit Image which supports English (enUS), French Canadian (fr-CA), Japanese (ja-JP) and German (de-DE) for Dell Wyse 7040 thin client. This product is a variant of the OptiPlex 7040 Micro Chassis with the wireless module or expansion capability replaced by a fiber module. This build can be pushed on 128 GB SSD, 256 GB SED, and 500 GB HDD or above combination with 4/8/16 GB RAM. This build is Windows 10 IoT Enterprise (WIE10) upgrade capable. Release Scope The WES7P v9.05 unified build 7020 supports English (en-US) and 3 MUI Languages.  German (de-DE)  French Canadian (fr-CA)  Japanese (ja-JP) Release Date November 29, 2016 Client Software Licensing and Maintenance Options Dell Wyse thin client software maintenance is required to receive new versions of thin client software and subsequent releases of corresponding documentation and tools. Use of this software on more than one device requires you to first purchase the additional copies of, or licenses to, the software from Dell Wyse. Dell Wyse 7040 Thin Client with Windows Embedded Standard 7P Release Notes Page 4 of 22 New Features This section provides the list of new features in this release. Unified build This build supports English (en-US) and three MUI languages —fr-CA, ja-JP, and deDE. General Features Imaging support using WDM/USB Imaging units using WDM/ USB has two scenarios depending on type of build on which it is being pushed.  Non-Unified build For updating Unified MUI build, on top of the non-unified build is a two-step process. 1. The WDM Add-on is used to write the desired languages metadata to the Merlin partition of the non-unified build. The command line (For FrenchCanada LanguageConfig.exe fr-FR) language option can be pushed to the client to write the required language metadata to the Merlin partition by using the WDM add-on with the Unified Language selection tool LanguageConfig.exe. 2. Push the Unified MUI image on top of the non-unified build with language metadata in Merlin partition. Imaging brings up the unit in the same MUI language present in Merlin.  Unified MUI build As the unified MUI build has the language metadata in Merlin partition, imaging the Unified MUI build brings up the unit in the same MUI language present in Merlin. If you want to change the language, then the Unified Language selection tool LanguageConfig.exe can be used to write the language metadata to Merlin partition. Reimaging the unit with the unified MUI build brings up the unit in desired language option selected with the tool. Hardware Support Information This release supports the following hardware:       Intel vPRO support—Four different SKUs from Dell i5 and i7 processor options. M.2 slot based SSD and SATA-based SSD options. 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB RAM options. Copper or Fiber SFP Module support. Support for Self-Encrypting Drive (SED). Intel HD Graphics support with HDMI and DP. Dell Wyse 7040 Thin Client with Windows Embedded Standard 7P Release Notes Page 5 of 22  Intel RAPID Storage support. Dell supports vPRO Corporate SKUs  vPRO  MEDISABLE  MELOCKOUT  ISM Menu Driven Custom/ConfigMgr Sysprep  Supports Menu driven Custom/ConfigMgr Sysprep where you can select the particular option.  Shrinking of disk information available during Sysprep that reduces the image pull or push time in larger disks. New Versions of Connection Brokers The new versions of the connection brokers that are available are:  VMware Horizon Client: 3.5.2.30397  Citrix Receiver: 14.4.0.8014  Dell Wyse vWorkspace Connector: 8.6.309.4062 Out of Box Driver Install All the respective device drivers are preinstalled in the OS, as compared to the legacy approach wherein there were prestaged drivers. XML driven PowerShell scripts Customization scripts are ported to the PowerShell scripts and based on .XML file input. Dell Wyse 7040 Thin Client with Windows Embedded Standard 7P Release Notes Page 6 of 22 Logging support Logging support added for customization scripts. WES7P Image Structure  WES7P build has five partitions – 100 MB Merlin partition, 350 MB Recovery, 100 MB EFI System partition, 128 MB MSR partition, and rest as OS partition.  100 MB Merlin partition is showing as FAT32 without the Drive Letter in Disk Management. 100 MB EFI System partition contains Merlin BA (Boot Agent) Version 3.3.7.  WES7P 7020 builds will be in compressed format.  Added support for UEFI boot and Windows 10 upgrade. Following are the changes that were done with respect to supporting UEFI boot and Windows 10 upgrade: o Partition type is changed to GPT partition. o 5 Partition structure is used and scripts are modified to adapt this new partition structure. o Merlin.ps1 file added and called to toggle Merlin Non-Pxe to first in the boot order instead of calling BAactive which was used in the build that support MBR partition structure. o License Manager Tool for managing Windows 10 license added under the path C:\Windows\Setup\Tools which will manage the license.txt file that will be copied to the path C:\Windows\Setup\License in factory for supporting Windows 10 upgrade support. WES7P 7020 Build behavior Internet Explorer 11  Performance enhancements: IE 11 is the quickest version of the browser yet.
