DETAILS OF PROPOSED FOOD PREMISES VENTILATION SYSTEM: Technical Submission Please read the below notes prior to completing this questionnaire. Food premises require adequate ventilation to make them safe for food production and to provide a suitable working environment. However the design and operation of the system is vital to its success and to acceptance of the new system by neighbouring residents. If this is a new or changed business, getting off to a bad start with ventilation will result in considerable time and possibly expense being spent with neighbour’s complaints and alienate future cliental. Therefore this is a crucial part of your pre-opening preparation to get correct. To enable the Council to assess the ventilation scheme proposed we need a suitably qualified person to provide us with the information requested in this questionnaire who, ideally, has some familiarity with ’Guidance on the Control of Odour and Noise from Commercial Kitchens Exhaust Systems, published by DEFRA in January 2005. You can either print of the questionnaire and fill in by hand or type directly into the document editable fields. Based on our experience with ventilation system submissions we often find that applicants fail to fill in all parts of the questionnaire and as a result have to make (often several) re-submissions which causes significant delays for all concerned and could ultimately result in possible refusal of the scheme by planning. Therefore please: - make sure the data submitted is accurate and clearly states the units of measurement. - fill in ALL boxes on this questionnaire, do not intentionality leave any boxes blank. - Where calculations are required it would be prudent to include your workings in the questionnaire boxes (or attach them separately) as this can significantly speed up the review process. - attach all relevant supporting information for your application such as manufacturers technical data sheets as we require this information to assess your submission. If technical documents are submitted please insert the details in the document register table after question 54, and indicate which question number the technical document links to. With your application please also provide a scaled plan(s) showing the internal arrangement of the premises and the dimensions and location of the ventilation system. The plan must contain: - external elevations of the buildings showing the dimensions, route and exhaust characteristics of the ductwork in relation to the building. - the location of all filters and the fan must be marked. Please also mark the access for filter replacement if required. All correspondence relating to your submission must be directed via the Planning Department who will then liaise with Environmental Health.
