JOB DESCRIPTION: Development Director Neighborhood Trust seeks a Development Director to lead the strategic direction and overall management of the fundraising program for our fast-growing and entrepreneurial nonprofit. The Development Director will oversee our annual and long-range strategy for securing gifts from a variety of sources, with a focus on major gifts from foundations and high net worth individuals. The Development Director will be responsible for creating and implementing systems and processes to sustain existing revenue while simultaneously raising new funds from diverse sources. The Development Director position requires drive and passion for our work, and the ability to operate in a high-energy, entrepreneurial environment where creativity and initiative are valued and expected. The right candidate will be able to write concisely and persuasively about the financially underserved and financial product innovation. The Director reports to the COO, works closely with the CEO and Board of Directors, and supervises a 2-person team. Generate and drive Neighborhood Trust's development strategy and objectives, crafting detailed fundraising plans to reach ambitious annual goals Refine and develop case statement, funder pitch, and collateral materials to support all development activities Analyze and strategically leverage fundraising metrics, fostering a culture of data-driven decision making Approach challenges with creativity and a sense of possibility, adjusting course as needed and problem-solving to overcome obstacles Create the strategies for all development-related events
Fundraising
Serve as chief fundraiser, leading a team to secure gifts from individuals, corporate partners, and foundations Identify, cultivate, and engage directly with new and existing high-potential prospects on an ongoing basis, with a strategic approach toward deepening their relationships with Neighborhood Trust In collaboration with the development team, research, identify, and qualify new corporate and institutional giving prospects while maximizing the impact of an existing portfolio
People Management
Supervise a team of two full-time fundraising employees Establish clear goals and metrics and mentor, manage, and motivate staff to drive towards them Develop direct reports, holding team members to a high standard of excellence and ensuring team members maximize their potential and grow professionally Partner with the CEO, COO, and the Board, to equip them with the skills necessary to engage with high-potential prospects and cultivate them from introduction to ask
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
5-10 years of professional experience, with significant experience fundraising in a nonprofit setting highly preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively build relationships with diverse audiences A highly strategic and metrics-oriented mindset with the savvy, self-confidence, flexibility, and energy to thrive in a dynamic working environment Palpable passion for Neighborhood Trust's mission and a strong connection to Neighborhood Trust's values Flexible and able to multi-task within a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment, while also driving towards clarity and solutions Evidence of managing high-performing teams to ambitious results Proficient in MS Office, with experience using SalesForce preferred
