2-Wire Duct Detector Housings for Ionization and Photoelectric Sensors Section: Conventional Initiating Devices
GENERAL HVAC systems supply conditioned air to virtually every area of a building. Smoke introduced into an air recirculation system is distributed to occupied areas of a building. The System Sensor DH400 Series Duct Detector Housing is designed to sample air currents passing through a duct, allowing early detection of a developing fire. When sufficient smoke is sensed, an alarm signal is initiated at the fire alarm panel monitoring the detector, and appropriate action can be taken to shut off fans and blowers, change over air handling systems, etc. This can prevent the rapid distribution or isolation of toxic smoke and fire gases throughout the areas served by the duct system.

NOTE: The System Sensor DH400 Duct Detector Housing is supplied with either the 1451DH Ionization Sensor (DH400I) or the 2451 Photoelectric Sensor (DH400P).

Clear polycarbonate cover for convenient visual inspection of sampling tube filters. Rugged Noryl® housing (mounting portion). Remote test station option. Easy and quick mounting to round or rectangular ducts from 1' to 12' (0.6 to 3.66 meters) wide. Three-year limited warranty.
APPLICATIONS Duct smoke detectors have specific limitations. Duct detectors are: • NOT a substitute for open area smoke detectors. • NOT a substitute for early warning detection. • NOT a replacement for a building’s regular fire detection system. System Sensor duct detector “Applications and Installation Instructions” should be used for reference, as well as “Guide for Proper Use of System Smoke Detectors” (I56407-000). CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION The twist-in, twist-out detector and base allow the removal of detectors easily and quickly for cleaning and maintenance. In addition, detector heads can be changed to fit the application without removing the duct housing. The DH400 comes with built-in exhaust tube. Sampling tubes are available to fit ducts from 1 to 12 feet (0.6 to 3.66 meters) wide.

Standby ratings: 8.5 VDC minimum, 35 VDC maximum, 120 µA maximum.
