PREPARATION NOTE: It is a statory requirement that ALL work is carried out by a ‘competent person’ which in normal circumstances would be a GAS SAFE registered engineer. 2.1 Turn off the gas supply at the gas service cock, and switch OFF and disconnect the electrical supply to the appliance before you start the replacement. 2.2 You must have to hand the Installation, Servicing & Maintenenace Instructions HR28C, Publication No. ZZ1430 and Combi ZZ1432 for this appliance. Or visit our website www.johnsonandstarley.co.uk to download the information. 2.3 Drop down the control panel and remove the front panel. Refer to paragraph 17.5. 2.4 Drain down both the CH and DHW circuits in the boiler. Refer to paragraph 18.11. 3. FITTING INSTRUCTIONS 3.1 COMBUSTION AIR FAN REMOVAL (First Operation) 3.1.1 Disconnect the front mains electrical connection. 3.1.2 Remove the red securing clip, noting its correct position. Slide the fan backwards off the venturi. 3.1.3 Remove the second electrical cable from the rear of the fan. 3.1.4 Remove the fan. CLIP MAINS ELECTRICAL CONNECTION FIGURE 11. COMBUSTION AIR FAN POSITION www.johnsonandstarley.co.uk 3.2 DHW PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER 3.2.1 Unscrew the 2 allen screws securing the plate heat exchanger to the housings, just enough to loosen and remove. 3.2.2 Manoeuvre the DHW plate heat exchanger out through the space left by the fan. 3.2.3 Fit the new plate heat exchanger, using the new O-rings supplied. NOTE: The mounting pins are offset. with the 4 holes to the front and the arrows on the plate heat exchanger pointing to the right. DHW PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER 3.2.4 Hold in position and screw back into place. 3.2.4 Replace the combustion air fan. FIGURE 22. DHW PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER 4. COMMISSIONING 4.1 Once the parts have been replaced and refitted the boiler will need to be refilled and commissioned.
