According to a study, about all 30 sec. an overvoltage peak of about 400 Volts is introduced on our standard power network, each minute of 700 Volts and all 5 minutes of even 1,000 Volts. The well known very high damage created by overvoltage is only the tip of the iceberg. The largest damage is not detected by the user, since a accelerated aging of sensitive electronic components takes place long before the equipment fails. The investment for a high quality overvoltage protection pays in many cases in a reasonable time. Unfortunately the market offers a wide range of products of minor values. BACHMANN offers a wide range of high end overvoltage protection. EXAMPLES Power – Overvoltage - Protection Approved according to DIN VDE 0620-1: 2002-01, EN 616 43-1: 2001, class D. Double protection system– gas filled consumption elements for high energy impulses (i.e. 6.5 kA at 8/20 mS, upon request even higher) as well as varistors with temperature fuses to eliminate fast and low energy voltage peaks (reaction time < 25 nS, transient protection).
