The United Campus Ministry (UCM) at Oregon State University seeks a Director/Campus Minister to replace the current Director/Campus Minister, who is retiring. The successful applicant must be comfortable in the dual role and possess appropriate experience for both the minster and director (chief of staff) roles. This position reports to the UCM Board of Directors Rooted in its 1919 beginnings, the UCM is an ecumenical, progressive Christian ministry with active ministry partners including the Presbyterian Church (PC USA), United Church of Christ, United Methodist, and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denominations and local congregations. While honoring these partners in ministry, we seek to create and sustain open and inclusive communities that welcome all persons from the university community no matter their faith identities or affiliations. We are a reconciling/open and affirming ministry. We value practices of dialogue and exploration and encourage participants to put their “faith into action” in pursuit of peace through justice. Our mission with the university community has always been grounded in and aspires to fulfill these words from the Prophet Micah: What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God. With a primary focus on student ministries, the Director/Campus Minister will be responsible for both establishing and sustaining those supportive communities essential to the living of this mission. These communities include: students, faculty, and staff of the university; our partnering denominations including their local congregations and appropriate judicatory leaders; interfaith partners on campus and in the local community; other university and community organizations whose goals and purposes are consonant with our own. The campus minister is accountable to the UCM Board of Directors and has strategic and operational responsibility for programs, staff supervision (part time office manager, part time student custodian), community relations, budget, facility management, and pursuit of the UCM mission. The minister will also be expected to serve as adviser and facilitator for the Westminster Student Council and to help assure its status as a “Recognized Student Organization” with the university. Successful applicants for the Director/Campus Minister position must: • • • • • • •
Be seminary educated; be ordained or eligible for ordination Identify as a progressive Christian with working knowledge of progressive Christian theology Be strongly committed to full inclusion of all people and demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to multifaith and multicultural experience Demonstrate strong pastoral ministry skills Demonstrate an understanding of young adult spiritual development Possess experience in faith/spiritual program development and implementation Possess experience in staff supervision

Possess effective speaking and writing skills Demonstrate an understanding of board development, budget management, marketing and funding for non profit organizations
