A DIRECTV Ready TV has a technology called RVU built in, which lets you enjoy DIRECTV service and full HD DVR functionality—without a receiver—in a Genie HD DVR setup. n With TVs that are not DIRECTV Ready, a small device called Genie Mini is required to allow them to access the Genie HD DVR. n What is RVU and how does it work? RVU is a software technology that is built into Genie, enabling it to act as a server for the smaller Genie Minis (and of course, DIRECTV Ready televisions). n RVU allows the Genie Minis to access all live and recorded content from Genie, as well as User Interface (UI) features and broadband-based services. n How do I know if my TV is DIRECTV Ready? Currently only the following Sony and Samsung LED TV models are DIRECTV Ready: n BRAND YEAR MODELS Samsung 2011 D6000, D6400, D6420 Samsung 2012, 2013 All Smart TVs Samsung 2014 All Smart TVs (Available starting in June) Sony 2013 Sony BRAVIA R550A and R520A series Sony 2014 KDL-60R510A (Available starting in June) Toshiba 2014 55L7400U (Available starting in August) LG 2014 OLED: EC9300 LED: LB7200, LB7100, LB6500, LB6300 (Available in September) If I already have or plan to get an DIRECTV Ready TV, is there anything I need to do to make it compatible with the Genie HD DVR? Currently, only the TV models listed above are DIRECTV Ready. More TV models are coming soon. If you have one of these TVs in the list above, please make sure it has the latest TV firmware, which can be downloaded from the Internet. If it does not update automatically, please follow the instructions in the Owner’s Manual to upgrade the firmware on your TV. n How do I get a DIRECTV Ready TV connected to a Genie HD DVR setup? If you’re a current DIRECTV customer and would like to connect this TV as an additional TV in your Genie HD DVR setup, please call 1-800-531-5000. n If you’re ordering new DIRECTV service and would like to connect this TV as an additional TV in your Genie HD DVR setup, mention it when you order your service and schedule your installation. n How many DIRECTV Ready TVs can I connect to my Genie HD DVR? You can connect up to 8 DIRECTV Ready TVs to a single Genie HD DVR—with an active viewing limit of 4 TVs simultaneously. That means the Genie HD DVR + 3 Clients (any combination of DIRECTV Ready TVs, Genie Minis and Wireless Genie Mini’s) can be viewed at the same time. n If a customer has 4 rooms in use simultaneously, rooms 5–8 will not be able to access programing. The customer will need to turn off one of the 3 currently active clients to enable programing in the new room. Customers who wish to use more than 4 TVs simultaneously should consider adding additional Non-Genie HD DVRs to their Genie setup. n Do I need a broadband Internet connection to install my DIRECTV Ready TV? Yes, broadband is required at time of installation. n Ver20140603:11:29 PRODUCED BY DIRECTV MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT. FOR SALES PERSONNEL USE ONLY.
