DESCRIPTION • The DM 880/881 is a fully modular, scalable multiservice provisioning platform. Supporting both SDH switching matrix and DS0 cross-connect matrix the DM 880/881 covers a wide range of applications from high-capacity E1 cross-connect to STM-N SDH Add-Drop Multiplexer. The DM 880/881 is the ideal platform for backbone and aggregation nodes for multi-service networks for fixed, wireless and cellular networks. • The 10U high base unit provides 17 slots: • 2 DC power supply slots with 1+1 redundancy • 2 MPU-Main Processing Unit slots • 12 I/O slots for multiple modules (from E1 up to STM-64) • 1 slot for Fan/Ventilation • The DM 880/881 is a scalable system; each of the MPU modules provides custom capabilities. (See SPECIFICATIONS.) The platform is designed for maximum flexibility allowing for constant growth and new services as the requirement arises maximizing return-on-investment. • While the DM 880 is suitable for highercapacity SDH backbone applications, the DM 881 offers a cost-efficient solution benefiting smaller applications sharing the same platform and system/interface modules while providing the same redundancy and protection features as the DM 880. The DM 881 can perform as a large DS0 (Nx64kbps) cross-connect allowing grooming for a large number of E1 ports. Supporting up to 384 E1 ports, the DM 881 can also be equipped with STM-1/4 SDH interfaces allowing it to be utilized in collecting rings and as ring master. • The Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet interface modules adhere to the latest NewGeneration standards and support VCATVirtual Concatenation, GFP-Generic Framing Procedure and LCAS-Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme among others. These features ensure interoperability with other vendors and enable easy integration into existing SDH networks. Your Solution for Better These modules also support Layer 2 switching with VLANCommunications functionalities and Class of Service (classifying • • • • services according to port, VLAN tag or DSCP) in addition to Flow and Bandwidth Control guaranteeing constant data flow. The DM 880/881 platform has a variety of interface modules allowing operators to deploy the system in different locations for a variety of requirements. In order to maximize deployment, STM-1/4/16/64 interfaces are provided via XFP and SFP (Small Formfactor Pluggable) modules providing an extensive array of options for different wavelengths and ranges capabilities. All modules are hot-swappable allowing for the addition or exchange of services in real-time with minimal network downtime. Several SDH protection mechanisms are supported ensuring system configuration flexibility and interoperability with other vendors: • MSP-Multiplex Section Protection for 1+1 link redundancy • SNCP-Sub-Network Connection Protection for path redundancy, per VC12, VC3 and VC4 • MS-SPRing (MS-Shared Protection Ring) for STM4/16/64, over 2-fibers or 4-fibers. DM 880/881 implements EPS (Equipment Protection System) for port protection, allowing: • E1 tributary protection 1:N (when N<5 in 2 groups) • E3/T3 tributary protection 1:N (when N<5 in 2 groups) Six levels of synchronization are supported. Each level corresponds to a different source of synchronization (Different interfaces, each capable of regenerating the clock). Levels can be configured as follows: • Hierarchy – Priority is set according to the highest SDH hierarchy to the lowest and is always automatically selected. Synch Messages – Based on clock quality. In a SDH network S1 bytes from the multiplexing section indicate quality. The DM 880/881 configuration can be performed via: • Terminal (or VT1000 emulator) • Telnet (Ethernet port) • WEB (HTTP) interface Terminal and Telnet allow for Network Parameter configuration while the WEB interface (Shelf View) permits the operator to see device status including interfaces and modules through a user -friendly GUI. The Shelf View provides status indicators for the power supplies, temperature, interface modules, MPUs, MPU interfaces and alarms in general in addition to configuration of all parameters in all modules and levels. Network and Circuit Management and Configuration Tasks are executed via the DM View Enterprise DM 800Plus module.
