Dominion SX - Features and Benefits Supported by: ® Technology Corporation www.RackitTechnology.com Dominion® SX Features Benefits Wide variety of supported models Up to 48 ports – the highest port density in the industry. Variety of power options, including dual-feed load-sharing (AC or -36-72V DC) power and Dual LAN. The -36-72V DC range allows worldwide use. Choice of one or two 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports with intelligent automatic failover. Models are available with or without built-in modem. Single Appliance – No Additional Software Provides true ‘Plug and Play’ capability making installation and set-up quick and easy. No additional client/host software or hardware to buy and no special networking equipment or design is necessary. When using a Java-enabled web-browser, there is no need for expensive client software, and it reduces the need to manage additional software. Access via WebBrowser/SSHv2/Telnet Easy point-and-click access via a Java-enabled Web browser, and SSHv2/Telnet client from a desktop, laptop, or handheld device. Easy to Install Installation in less than 3 minutes, with just a web browser or a VT100 terminal (or equivalent). Some competitive products require burdensome editing of multiple files to complete a basic installation. Better security by rejecting access attempts using SSHv1 Due to the many known security vulnerabilities of SSHv1, SSHv1 connections are automatically rejected by the Dominion SX. Broadest Range of Supported Browsers Raritan Dominion SX is tested with the broadest range of browsers – Mozilla, Firefox, and Internet Explorer, ensuring compatibility with the wide variety of operating systems and devices. One View, One Interface A single, consolidated view of all serial devices via one sign-on simplifies everything for the IT staff. A single IP address gives access to all connected serial devices while any Java-enabled Web browseror SSH/Telnet- provides VT100/ANSI terminal emulation. Serial ports are RS232 with RJ-45 connectors. Used with Category 5/5e/6 UTP cabling and Raritan adapters. Provides secure serial console access over IP and control of any serially connected network devices such as: routers, hubs, switches, CSU/DSU, serially controlled power equipment, etc, as well as UNIX and headless Sun servers. This allows administrators to maintain and control serial equipment from anywhere as if they were actually present at the location. 4, 8, 16, 32 and 48 Serial-over-IP ports on one chassis ©Copyright Raritan Computer, Inc. 2005 Page 1 of 3 Rev. 10 Aug. 2005 Dominion SX - Features and Benefits Features Encryption Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting Support(“AAA”) Modem dial-back Login Name and Password never stored in clear text User Defined and Installable Security Certificates Benefits Provides web-browser security through 128-bit SSL and RC4 encryption. For SSHv2 connections, AES and 3DES are supported (client-dependent) Support provided for the RADIUS, LDAP, TACACS+, and Active Directory Primary and secondary servers are supported. For enhanced security, Dominion SX supports modem dial-back with Linux, and Windows 2000/XP clients. Sensitive information is MD5 hashed for storage on the unit. Dominion SX includes user authentication security and user-defined and installable security certificates. IP Access Control List (IP ACL) IP ACL allows for restricting access to a single IP address or a range of addresses. Improves security by allowing more restricted authorized access only. Battle-tested IPTables based security. SecureID Support SecureID is supported via RADIUS. SecureChat Instant Messaging Allows encrypted instant messaging for online collaboration with other authorized web-browser users and maximizes the contribution and effectiveness of a distributed workforce. In short, this feature reduces the time to resolve problems, and allows multiple administrators to troubleshoot a problem. This feature can also be used for training. Extensive SNMP traps allow for various alerts e.g., Authentication failures, port connections and disconnections, and many other events of interest to the system administrators. Supports Syslog to multiple servers, allowing administrators to track activity. Allows logging of all keystrokes and server/device responses to NFS server(s). Primarily used for audit trails. All models support at least one local port for access to connected servers “at-the-rack”, using a laptop with a terminal emulation package. A VT100 terminal can also be plugged in. Administrators can enable/disable local port(s). All local port users also authenticate and authorize from the same “AAA” server as all other users, so logs and audit trails are comprehensive, and all access attempts are logged. On all dual-LAN models, the administrator can enable failover to the second LAN port. Only a single IP address is used for both ports. In the event of the primary LAN connection going down, the secondary LAN connection becomes active; in most cases sessions in progress are unaffected with this Intelligent Automatic Failover capability. Simplifies the deployment of firmware updates by allowing the administrator to get upgrades from an FTP server, thereby allowing control of deployed firmware– saving time and money. For customers with CommandCenter-Secure Gateway, the firmware upgrades can be managed via CommandCenter-Secure Gateway. Comprehensive SNMP Traps Syslog NFS Logging Local Port Access Intelligent Auto-Failover on Dual-LAN models Firmware Upgradeable via Network Connection ©Copyright Raritan Computer, Inc. 2005 Page 2 of 3 Rev. 10 Aug. 2005 Dominion SX - Features and Benefits Features Benefits Cross-platform and Hardware Independent Allows the connection of multiple disparate servers running SUN Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Linux, Windows Server 2003, and UNIX-based servers as well as multiple serial devices to a single Dominion SX – making it perfect for situations where a range of equipment is needed, which is common in remote locations. Very small form-factor saves rack and/or closet space and makes it perfect for remote offices where space is limited. Rack-mount brackets included for all DSX 16-48 port models; optional on all DSX4 and DSX8 port models, except the DSXA-8 dual-power which comes with a rack-mount kit. Provides emergency access in the event of a network outage. Extremely important feature as it enables an administrator to access server and network equipment for trouble shooting/disaster recovery. Integrated modem provides a very clean installation and removes the need for separate remote access server, local authentication software, and cabling thus minimizing the potential points of failure. 1U Form Factor Integrated 56K Modem via RJ11 connection available* Extensible Two Power Options TCL Scripting Capabilities Power board Applet for GUI Support of Raritan’s Remote Power Control Strips *Integrated 56K modem via RJ11 connection for select models. Deployable as part of an enterprise-wide command and control management solution with Raritan’s CommandCenterSecureGateway. Integrated power supply ensures proper power provision and system reliability. AC Power: 110/220V auto-switching Auto-Switching DC Power: -36-72V DC Using TCL scripting capabilities, you can create customized conditions for event detection, and can generate customer-specific notifications and alerts via SMTP. For GUI power-control support, a Java applet is provided. A Raritan power control unit (RPCU) can be connected to each serial port on a Dominion SX. Customers can also control RPCU without a GUI, through scripting and the command line interface (CLI).
